7. Yeah, kudos to LakeSamish706. Those who maintained that Bush would leave
at the end of his term were often characterized as naive, innocent or just stupid.

36. You're very short-sighted
Bush ISN'T leaving: every small plane crash, every car wreck, every chicken bone lodged in a throat, every case of severe diarreah, every ingrown hair, every airline terminal cleared out due to a knapsack left unattended, every house fire, and every bad mood will be attributed to the guy people can't wait to leave tomorrow.

The butthole can leave town and never be heard from again, but in the minds of many he will never be gone. Sad, pathetic, and a real opportunity for enterprising psychologists.

24. Raises hand.
I have to fess up to wondering if they'd go, too. But I also believe they've committed capitol crimes, so I don't know why they didn't make some kind of power play. Attack Iran or another terrorist attack. Jump start a domestic disturbance that would provide cover for martial law.

Who knows? Maybe they got a 'quid pro quo' from the Democrats.

30. It would have been easier if he was dictator.
Or if he had his post-9/11 popularity ratings. Hard to pull that off when Smirk and Snarl check out with 22/13 % ratings, though. Still, who really knows? They had leverage right up to the very end. They may well have gotten a deal done to sweep their crimes under the rug.

27. Hell, I always knew he'd leave office BUT I was one of those that
had firmly held idea that he'd be issuing pardons left and right.

There were a lot of crazy thoughts here. I still don't see how he thinks he can just walk away. If he truly thinks that way than he's a freak of nature. At least, I hope so.

39. I'll admit I was worried he'd try a stunt like that...
Though it turns out that even Bush and his cronies could not withstand the will of the American people when they became united and made it clear what direction they wanted this country to go.

He's getting out of dodge - the current strategy is to leave the country a total mess, then blame the mess on Obama. Besides, Bush wasn't really the one pulling the strings - he was a weak leader, and when the Rethugs come back, it will be with a different front man.

Fortunately, given Bush's very low approval numbers and Obama's decently high approval numbers, I'd say the blame for this country's woes is being correctly directed.

Plan B was for him to defecate on the country before handing it over to Obama. President Obama inheriting the worst state of the union in history is no coincidence. This is the only way * would've given it up.
