Anyone else totally choked up by this parade?
I'm closer to tears with this than anything else today.

I guess its the human effort and how much went into some of these these groups and bands getting there - I could watch it all night, sniff.

This is something they will remember all their lives and tell their grandkids and their grandkids. Sniff....

1. Great point
Not easy preparing for this and then waiting in this cold.

I'm not choked up though - I cried most of the day until I started laughing.
I'm also trying to figure out how the Pres and his wife will survive eight balls tonight - they must be tired by now.

Fabulous bands indeed.

2. I am not happy with the fact they don't even watch many of them go by.
They should not be turning their backs on the parade participants.

4. No one turned their backs. So what are you watching or talking about?

7. Actually I did notice at one point because it was my old high school's marching band
Obama was talking and greeting several people and not watching them perform. I can hardly blame him though - I don't think it would be humanly possible to intently watch every single group passing. Still, it would be hard on the kids if they saw it.

10. Just taking a moment to acknowledge every band for a second. It will kill to have him not look.

3. Only when the Navy band played "anchors aweigh"
My dad was lifetime Navy and my brother was an Lt when he was killed. Navy color guard at both of their funerals.

I would have been at Annapolis had my brother not died in the Navy. Mom put a stop to it, already accepted and everything.

In an ironic twist of fate, I was nominated by then Sen. Bob Dole.

8. President Obama is going to have to learn
to put his hand over his mouth when he's talking to Michelle or they will soon be printing his private comments.

6. I would bet when the Blue Springs Golden Renegade Band
marched by the near empty reviewing stand (I guess the only person who is important is there still).. As those kids are some the grandchildren of my friends, they were probably more inclined to be cherishing the memories they had 3 weeks ago marching in the Rose Parade where it was warm and over a million people were there to watch.

17. Obama stood it out... I can say that for him...
From the Army band to the Lunar Rover, he acknowledged each and every one of them. Others left, but the Obamas and Bidens stayed!
They are a class act. I am proud that they are leading our country.
It has to be the longest parade I have seen in my 53 years. Simply an epic parade!
