Justice's new U.S. attorneys have partisan records
By Greg Gordon, Margaret Talev and Marisa Taylor
McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON - Under President Bush, the Justice Department has backed tougher state voter identification laws and steered U.S. attorneys toward investigating voter fraud _ policies that critics say have been intended to suppress Democratic votes.

Bush, Karl Rove, the president’s deputy chief of staff, and other Republican political advisers have highlighted voting rights issues and what Rove has called the “growing problem” of Democratic election fraud since Bush took power in the tumultuous election of 2000, a race ultimately decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Since 2005, McClatchy Newspapers has found, Bush has appointed at least three U.S. attorneys who had worked in the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division when it was rolling back long-standing voting rights policies aimed at protecting predominantly poor, minority voters.

Another newly installed U.S. attorney, Tim Griffin in Little Rock, Ark., was accused of participating in efforts to suppress Democratic votes in Florida during the 2004 presidential election while he was research director for the Republican National Committee. He's denied any wrongdoing.

2. Of course he's denying it.

Until he's confronted with cold hard evidence. And I'm sure that's just a matter of time.

3. I remember a line from the Godfather
the lawyer guy - Tom Hagen?

he was asked why he became a lawyer, he said he remembered something the godfather said about a lawyer with a briefcase being able to steal more than a man with a gun

the Bush mafia is an apt nomenclature for this misadministration

....pleasepleasepleaseplease can we impeach now?

4. Ah, yes. Turd Blossom's flunkie.
I'm beginning to get the feeling that they sent Griffin to our beloved state to start some trouble Rove-style. Especially since we went very blue after the last elections. They'll probably try every trick in the book to put us back in red.

5. Have to register as an Independent when I move to Florida
in June. It's too important and I don't want to take any chances.

Call me paranoid, if you will, but I just plain don't trust them down there. Terrible way to move, isn't it?

8. Have there actually BEEN any cases of suspected Dem 'election fraud'?
or is this simply KKKarl-speak for minorities and the poor managing to cast a ballot?
Can't have that, can you, KKKarl...
