1. This is one of those uncommon instances where it *sounds* incredibly stupid...
But when it comes time to *explain* why it's so stupid, one encounters more difficulty than one would have expected.

6. Except your math works only if everyone gets a dollar
$1,000,000 * 303,824,640 = $303,824,640,000,000

9. Something is funky with the math.
Edited on Sun Jan-25-09 10:36 AM by Jamastiene
Don't get me wrong. I love your idea. I could pay off my place and live many years off 1 million dollars. Your math doesn't add up right though. $306 million dollars would be like a dollar per person. A dollar would be nice, but not as nice as a million dollars. :)

13. You got that right.
But it was more like I was still groggy and fuming at Meet the Press and not thinking clearly!

12. I've heard that if the first "bailout" had been divided among working Americans over 18, it would
have been over $200,000. I've heard this discussed from Tennessee to California, so its not an idea that is absurd.. it is an idea that is out there and being discussed seriously.

Americans with mostly paid-off houses/debt seems like a no-brainer to an economic nerd like me.
