Even by the bush/Gonzo definition, interrogation to the point of death is TORTURE. Why isn't anyone speaking to this? It's been said that as many as 100 individuals have died as a result of "enhanced interrogation". That's torture by EVERYONE'S definitions.

1. yes.
It is.

And it's time to hold those responsible to account. Better if the US does it.

3. I say we charge the Bush administration with the murder of the English Language, too
"Enhanced interrogation"? This newspeak bullshit is deserving of a three-hour whipping at the post if nothing else.

4. I hate the morphing of the term "torture" to "enhanced interrogation"
On a much lower scale it's akin to "a USED car" being transformed into "a PRE-OWNED car." We all know what we're getting here in both cases.

Torture by any other name would SMELL as vile. :silly:

5. Torture, enhanced interrogation...
persuasive questioning, or whatever in hell you want to call it I would consider up to the point of death. After that it is homicide.

6. On an individual case, not necessarily.
It's entirely possible that someone with a particularly weak heart could die from stress of non-torture yet unpleasant interrogation methods. However, when large number of people are dying, it's pretty clearly torture. If that 100-individual number is anything more than some made-up dream of a blogger, then that's a pretty strong case.

8. Of course. Weren't there 24 dead at Abu Ghraib alone? Wasn't this published?
Where are the journalists, pundits, and investigators?

You can't say, believably, that all the secret prisons, the enhanced interrogations, the rendition to other countries, the effort to re-define torture, and abu ghraib were just about waterboarding a couple of guys. There's got to be a ton more and it should be assumed that there is until shown otherwise.

If there's no investigation, at what point do progressives begin to own the torture issue too???
