Right on cue, the White House press awakens from its bu$h* slumber

Pulling a collective Rip Van Winkle, the White House press corps has awakened from its extended nap just in time to aggressively press the new Democratic administration, just as it dogged the last Democratic president during his first days in office back in the 1990s. Conveniently skipped over during the press corps' extended bout of shut-eye? The Bush years, of course.

Suddenly revved up and vowing to keep a hawk-like watch on the Obama administration ("I want to hold these guys accountable for what they say and do") and all of a sudden obsessed with trivia, while glomming onto nitpicking, gotcha-style critiques, Beltway reporters have tossed aside the blanket of calm that had descended on them during the previous administration, a blanket of calm that defined their Bush coverage.

Can't say I'm surprised about the sudden change in behavior, though. Taking the long view, I recently went back and contrasted how the press covered the first days and weeks of Clinton's first term in 1993 with its coverage of Bush's arrival in 2001. The difference in tone and substance was startling. (Think bare-knuckled vs. cottony soft.)

3. The White House press corps,
with the sole exception of Helen Thomas, is nothing but a bunch of two-dollar whores with absolutely no journalistic skill or integrity. They're suckass bimbos who pant at the notion of being invited to some kind of fancy dinner where they can wear dressy grownup clothes and laugh along with the people they're supposed to cover, all at the expense of the American public.

Fuck 'em. There are a lot of alternate sources of news now and these dinosaurs, like the lately recalcitrant Republican Congressmen and Senators, will either adapt or disappear. I'm rooting for the latter, personally.

They're going to give President Obama a hard time because they know in the pit of their twisting little stomachs that they're never going to be invited to blow him as they sucked off Fuckface. They're never going to go to a dinner and watch a video of Fuckface pretending to look for those pesky WMS and laugh their pathetic asses off, along with Fuckface and his thugs, forgetting that they're all complicit in all the deaths brought about by their perfidy and lies.

WMDs that can't be found. Isn't that funny? I wonder if the parents of soldiers who died in Iraq think it's funny.

These people are scum. If you want to read something that I think should be required reading in every American home, check out "So Wrong For So Long," by Greg Mitchell, who's the editor of Editor and Publisher. It presents with exquisite and heartbreaking precision exactly how this "press" of ours colluded completely with the Fuckface White House in the PR debacle that is the Iraq invasion and occupation.

The Washington Post has just re-hired William Cristol. Can anything be more corrupt than that?

Screw the White House press corps. I'll listen to Helen Thomas. The rest of them are beneath my contempt and not worthy of my interest.

(This turned into a rant. I did not realize how angry I am about this.)

7. You got that right!
Somebody called the press whores "an ongoing disgrace" as well, I liked that moniker and think of it every single time I turn on the TV.

5. I would never respond to their ?s but say what happened
on this day during whichever of the Bush Years I felt like revealing & say it. TV is for entertaining, not for news. I think everyone should have sensed that by now. & why not call them DOGMATIC instead of "idealogue"?

6. I completely disagree with Eric Boehlert
ShitAss Inc threatened, ignored, blocked access, planted propaganda mongers as reporters, whipped out the IRS, illegal wiretapped, stalked reporters in person and via the net, every dirty trick to stop any level of journalism.

By contrast, Clinton and Obama encouraged the checks and balances the free press provides and were therefore open to criticism, both fair and contrived.

Yes, some "reporters" and pundits are GOP ass lickers, but for the most part reporters are just trying to do a job without having their grandmas terrorized by the "Men in Black" canvassing the neighbors asking "Have you ever seen the A-rabs and drugs dealers who come over Grandma's every week?"
