Democrats Launch Petition Against Rush Limbaugh After Firing Back at Obama
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee launches an online petition to express outrage at Rush Limbaugh after he said he wanted President Obama to fail.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has launched an online petition to express outrage at conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh for saying he wanted President Obama to "fail."

"Jobs, health care, our place in the world -- the stakes for our nation are high and every American needs President Obama to succeed," the petition reads. "Stand strong against Rush Limbaugh's Attacks -- sign our petition, telling Rush what you think of his attacks on President Obama."

The petition comes after Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill Friday that they need to quit listening to Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.

The committee's online petition includes a YouTube video featuring audio clips of the radio host's recent remarks.

1. Rush has proved himself to be a dismal failure of the Republican party - he need to retire
The year 2006 - Republicans lost

The year 2008 - The House, the Senate, and the Executive branch are all held by Democrats.

Way to go Rush Limbaugh; you are the gift that just keeps on giving.

10. not to mention he lies
If his opinions had SOME fact-based opinion to them, that would be great, but they dont. the media watchdog group FAIR found over 10,000 lies in 4,000 hours of transcripts. He lies every show!

19. don't know if they're lying or not
but every RW friend I have that I argued with during the election now claims not to listen to him any more and have soundly criticized his remarks. I want him silenced by having such crappy ratings that the sponsors all drop him, and that may be on it's way to happening. But, they probably are lying. Remember that 22% still said Bush was doing a good job when the incompetent criminal flew out of DC, so they are obviously detached from reality.

22. right - and the only way to have an impact is to get to the
advertisers.

When they dry up - he goes down.

Not until. No petition does it - only an impact on sales.

3. Keep Painting Him...Make Him The Face Of The GOOP
The party is leaderless and rudderless right now. Many of Rushbo's tirades over the past year have been directed at his own as much as at the Democrats...and each time he's alienated more moderates and independents. IMHO, Rushbo is a major liability for the GOOP...a big turn-off that only is hurts his corrupt party as he's now a reminder of all the hubris and arrogance that all but destroyed this country.

Let's get the GOOP on record...does Rushbo speak for them or not? Remember how the GOOP ramrodded a condemnation of MoveOn? There was a similar resolution to do the same to Rushbo. It failed. Now let's see what the vote would be. If he becomes the face of the GOOP, they're doomed to more failures and irrelevance.

9. Agree completely, we need to help make him the face of the Republican Party.
It will eventually destroy them.

4. Signed.
He can say whatever he wants but taxpayers do not have to provide the airtime to pump his garbage into the troops.

16. I agree and know of no reason as to why he warrants a monopoly
of political opinion to the somewhat captured audience of our American Service men and women.

They come from all walks of life, Democratic, Republican and third party, so technically speaking they should be American, first, last and the in middle, not partisan, but if Armed Forces Radio wants to broadcast hate filled, fascist propaganda to them, at the very least their programming should be balanced with some voices of sanity, tolerance and democracy.

6. Is anyone worried about backlash from the troops themselves?
Many have listened to him for years. I think it could get very messy. Obama and the dems would be accused of not supporting the troops. limbaugh fans who are soldiers would probably be interviewed by every tv network. It would be a circus.

7. I'd love to see the DCCC generate this much outrage against the giveaway of TRILLIONS
OF DOLLARS to the financial elites while the taxpayers get a pittance.

Yes, Limbaugh is a fascist pig and he deserves to be off Armed Forces Radio, but there are bigger fish to fry.

2006 - midterm elections: 'Liberated' Limbaugh flays GOP for lame campaign
Radio host: Conservative values not trumpeted by 'I'm-afraid-of-my-shadow Republican Party'

--snip--

In answering questions about how he feels about the election results, Limbaugh said, "I feel liberated. ... I no longer am gonna have to carry the water for people who I think don't deserve having their water carried. ... If those in our party who are going to carry the day in the future both in Congress and the administration are going to choose a different path than what most of us believe, then that's liberating. ...

"There have been a bunch of things going on in Congress. Some of this legislation coming out of there that I have just cringed at. And it has been difficult coming in here trying to make the case for it when the people who supposedly in favor of it can't even make the case themselves."

------

well - Limbaugh doesn't carry repub water bucket, he carries the GOP kool-aid bucket

14. He's admitting to trying to make the case for legislation that made him "cringe"
Liar. Hypocrite. Shill. Mockingbird.

I remember the quote about carrying water, but I never saw or heard the part about admitting he tried to sell programs he personally didn't believe in. I think this is important enough for it own thread and I encourage you to post one. I know some people think that by discussing Limbaugh we aggrandize him, but he is a legitimate news topic at this moment, so there will never be a better time to reveal what a disgusting and insincere manipulator he is.

Send it to the radio outlets that run him and the advertisers.

Or ignore him.

Or just express support for President Obama.

Edited on Wed Jan-28-09 02:58 PM by LiberalPersona
He's just going to use petition comments as material for his broadcasts.
