1. That would make it a relatively good day.
What a debacle.

4. But not nearly as bad as Monday.
- the point being that this is a debacle. We are in a seriously bad economic downturn where 20,000 major corp job cuts is a relatively mild day.

3. On top of the 72K announced on Monday
It is a downward spiral. As more are out of work, less money circulates in the economy, the more get laid off.

6. 600,000 per month = 20,000 per day every day
But since many job cuts are coming from small companies that don't make the news, the daily numbers we are seeing might indicate that January is worse than that.

7. The incredible job losses
combined with the inability to create enough new jobs to replace them in the forseeable future suggests that many of these unemployed folks will be called upon to create new earnings for themselves thorugh some form of self-employment.

And that suggests that one of the most effective forms of economic stimulus just might be (1) unlimited funding available for new/small business through the SBA and/or small business incubator programs and (2) Medicare haelth coverage being made available to the owners and employees of small business.
