Cost saving multi-tasking or a really bad photo?

A US Government limousine drives past the US State Department building loaded with furniture from the Swedish furniture store IKEA, in Washington, DC. Incoming Treasury secretary Timothy Geithner apologized over past tax transgressions while vowing to act with "strength, speed and care" to revive the stricken US economy.

1. Does the US government not own any trucks?
That looks kind of stupid.

3. The State department, or whatever department it was, may not
and it might well be easier, quicker and cheaper to send a driver and an intern to the IKEA store to pick up some stuff, rather than arranging with some central trucking department for a truck for an afternoon.

4. Maybe they had to go shopping
in the Limo. Ikea wants you take that stuff with you. I suppose secret service could have called for a truck.

But seriously? I don't think buying from Ikea is a cost-saving measure, cuz you still wind up paying double when the stuff you buy breaks 6 months from now.

5. In light of the $1M + office remodel that CEO had to eat,
it is pretty encouraging that the new folks in charge know how to get style at a reasonable price and don't mind getting their hands dirty. Too bad they have to buy from a Swedish chain to get save money, but that's the current state of US manufacturing.

7. It looks to me like a
photoshopped picture. I just checked snopes to see if they had anything on this, but not at this point. And if it's real, who cares? If Ikea is simply a cash and carry outfit that doesn't deliver (I don't live near one so I don't know much about them) then using a limo to pick up stuff there is probably no more expensive than sending out a truck.
