2. I'm sick of them.
And what is it with those Cialis ads with the people in separate bathtubs, located on the beach, in a vineyard, etc.? How silly.

I say stop the advertising and lower the price of the meds so more people can afford them. Those ads are expensive to produce and air.

3. as far as i know, we are the only country to have these ads.
i think australia might have them, but was considering banning like the rest of the civilized world. i think back to when they first started these ads. was that around the time of the tiered drug coverage for insurance companies, i wonder. I tend to think so. On the one hand, it's good to get the information out there. Maybe folks don't know that they are depressed? or having sexual issues. I don't know. but I tend to think that these ads should be banned. I sure don't want to have to explain to ten year old what an erection is. the purpose of these ads is to bypass the doctor's office and get people to go to the doctor and demand a particular drug. I think it's ridiculous. If someone wanted to have a generic ad to talk about a problem and then tell you to go see your doctor.... have NO drug company or drug named.... that would be ok. and then there is the cost of the marketing. they spend more on marketing than they do on research. I don't care what they say. they are LIARS.

5. We put drug dealers in jail
but these guys advertise to the suburban family to give a magic cure to anything that they perceive as a problem in their lives. Having trouble sleeping? here is a little gem of a drug. Can't get it up? I have something for you because I am your pusher man.

All these commercials do is have people ask their doctors to write them a prescription for their self medication. These commercials help bypass preventative medicine.

6. they are so bad -- one actually had DEATH listed as a *side-effect*
We don't allow tobacco companies to run ads, because they have the same side effect -- WHY are the drug ads allowed?

7. Frankly I always found bath room stuff on TV just sucks.
But then I find all these women that display what should be kept under cover a little ill bred also. Must be my age. Having spent years in nude drawing classes, as an art major, I am not that far out of it really.

9. It is illegal to do so in every other developed country except the US and New Zealand
and I heard that New Zealand was trying to pass legislation to ban direct consumer marketing.

Wonder why we pay so much more for our prescription drugs? Despite the claims made by big pharma about all the R&D expense, the truth is they spend more money on marketing than on research.

11. It makes you wonder
Watch the evening news practically any night and count the number of products advertised that you can't go out and buy. I wonder why this doesn't get mentioned when the drug companies come begging for tax breaks because it's just so expensive to manufacture prescription medicines?
