Legislation Declares that Life Begins at Conception

WASHINGTON – In an attempt to protect the unborn by resolving the question of when life begins, U.S. Sens. Mel Martinez, R-Fla., Roger Wicker, R-Miss., Sam Brownback, R-Kan., Tom Coburn, R-Okla., Jim DeMint, R-S.C., Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., James Inhofe, R-Okla., John Thune, R-S.D., David Vitter, R-La., and George Voinovich, R-Ohio, have re-introduced the Life at Conception Act, legislation that declares that life begins at conception and the unborn to be “persons” under the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.

Of course, to hell with the kid once they're born...they can be abused, uneducated, live on the street, or die. Republicans don't care, but save that embryo!

It's not like there's anything else going on that requires their attention right now, right?

:puke: Once a Repuke, always a Repuke. :puke:

1. You nailed that correctly!
Especially this: "Of course, to hell with the kid once they're born...they can be abused, uneducated, live on the street, or die. Republicans don't care, but save that embryo!"

4. Typical Republican post-election fundie shout-out.
Kabuki theater aimed to remind the fundie folk that Dems are "baby killers". Nothing more.

6. That reminds me -- I haven't gone out and forced any of my Republican neighbors
to have abortions yet today. Better get going or I won't make quota for the week.

5. Diaper Dave Vitter continues to amaze
his reelection will be a three ring circus in 2010. He is working overtime to impress the morons who will vote for him.

9. Gee, they had that iron majority all those years
You have to wonder why they didn't introduce this bill and force it through when they were the majority party in both houses of Congress and had a president who never vetoed a thing sitting in the Oval Office. It's almost like they're pandering to a very small minority of their base, pretending to work on their behalf, but not really coming through for them. Seems to me the folks they're pandering too, should they realize how they're being played, might be a touch angry about this condescending bullshit being done ostensibly in their name.

10. They've got nothing else but this emotionally charged issue to get voters
Let us not forget they had 6 years of control of the presidency and Congress and did nothing to overturn it.. just keep telling the fundies what they want to hear to get their votes.
