Brand loyalty has a stronger hold on us than we realize.

Yesterday I was shopping for some small plastic containers. Gladware, specifically.

The grocery store where I shop didn't have them. I saw two other brands. I kept looking; I wanted Gladware.

Then I had the insightful thought, What does it matter? I just need some little plastic containers that cost between two and three dollars, and are fairly disposable anyway...

I bought one of the those brands, can't remember the name.

Consumers of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your chains!

1. I almost always buy the store brand
if available. Usually it's cheaper and just as good, if not sometimes better, than the name brand.

5. I'm with you on that
for the few items I use that are processed.

I discovered brand X in the 70s and just never went back.

There are a few things I'll insist on, like Muir Glen canned tomatoes, but other than those very few, I'll stick to the store brand.

3. Isn't Gladware made in America?
Where was your cheap alternative made? One thing I learned a long time ago. If you don't support local business you don't have local business..
