How would you describe ...
... the current economic situation.

The GOP-controlled media has begrudgingly admitted that we are in a recession. But they waited a full year before admitting it.

Does that mean we're in a depression?

What does it mean?

What word/phrase would you use that best describes the economic situation that we find ourselves in?

17. Agreed but I don't think I have ever been this afraid and this deep
in the mire. Desperate would be my word.

22. That's what they want us to be. Afraid and desperate.
Until we learn to COME TOGETHER, and end this "rugged individualism" shit, they will have us this way... afraid and desperate.

5. AAAAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGHHHH!
But that is restricted to people who know how bad it really is.

My own case is an "Oh shit, not again!" because I'd only been middle class for 2 1/2 years when the stock market wilted and though I know how to be poor, I was hoping I wouldn't have to do it again quite so soon.

We're not in a depression yet. However, if Congress sits on its corpulent ass and dicks around with tax cuts and price supports, we will be within the year.

but I'm a lady, so I'll just say we're fucked.
And moving towards a depression if we don't do something NOW.

12. Nice. I like the idea of using one of their names in it.
So, no matter which asshole is the face/voice for the party (Limpballs? Steele?) one of their forefathers will always be remembered.

21. I wish 60 Minutes had done their story earlier.
I had heard about Wilmington last year (but months after it happened) I just wonder how long they'd been sitting on that story.

Link (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/01/22/60minutes/main4747832.shtml ) if you didn't catch it.
