Thom Hartmann leaving Air America for new syndicator
From xmfan.com.....
As of March 1st, Thom Hartmann will depart the Air America Radio network to join Dial Global. Dial Global also syndicates liberal talkers Bill Press, Stephanie Miller, and Ed Schultz.

1. Whew! For a minute there, I was worried.
But the station I listen to has those others, so they'll probably keep Thom but go through the new syndicator.

3. AAR is dead or dying...and it was self-inflicted
Mike Malloy
Randi (I know yall love her)
Sam Seder, Marc Maron
now Thom

but hey, they've got the Reagan kid and Mark Green's own show.

6. Definitely dead
Hartmann was the only star they had left.

They drove away every effective progressive/liberal they ever had, for trivial or personal reasons.

If they had nurtured that talent or promoted it properly, they could have had a formidable organization.

More fracturing of left-leaning media. Why am I not surprised.

8. They still have Rachel Maddow by the way and Sam Seder
And Robert Kennedy Jr. (Ring of Fire). We need more progressive stations not less- the more the merrier. We're still far below the number of right wing stations- think about it.

9. I would recommend supporting NovaM
THAT's where the original founders of Air America are.

Sheldon and Anita Drobny have kept the concept alive there.

4. Not a bad idea!
Some Air America stations don't even air him so why should he stay with Air America? I'm thinking specifically of Air America's NY station. It dropped Hartmann in favor of Schultz last year. I never understood that decision. Schultz is so not New York

7. Very interesting
We get Press (I wish we didn't), Stephie and Ed (delayed) on our station here in Detroit, so I wonder if we'll still get Thom. I guess it depends on his time slot and who replaces him at AAR.

15. Good for him.
I'd still rather we got Big Eddie instead of Thom during that time slot (Ed Schultz would play a WHOLE lot better here in Dallas, I think) but anything that might get him more play nationwide.

17. I'm pretty sure that all of the stations carrying Thom now will continue to carry him.
All the affiliates have to do is change their satellite equipment settings to pick up Thom's new show.
The only changes the listener may probably notice is a new call-in number, and possibly differently placed commercial breaks.

18. I'm just wondering where his podcasts will end up.
I podcast him every day, after getting to listen to him for a few minutes on Sirius around 9 AM Pacific Time.
