21. Also, check the google bomb for keywords "barack osama"...
It comes back with Barack Obama's website at the top of the list.

They seem to really be pushing this meme. Check out this site for getting a t-shirt too!

14. As I said downthread.
Any random Joe Freeper could do this. It doesn't mean GOP.com owns the domain, or even knows of its existence. If you buy a domain, you can redirect it anywhere you like.

38. I tried looking it up on WHOIS.
The info is hidden.

Tried a reverse WHOIS, no dice. Where are you seeing that it's owned by the same people?

32. Not neccessarily so
That particular domain's ownership is hidden behind a WHOIS privacy service:

If you've got a single shred of evidence that suggests who owns this domain, I'd love to see it.

42. OK, fine.
I'm sure the registration of barackosama2008.org is a nefarious plot by the RNC to...

...what, exactly? If I could see a clear motive, it'd be different. At the moment your argument amounts to OMG DEY IZ BAD DIS IS H00J!11!1! SERIESLY!

All I did was point out something that I thought people might not know - namely that anyone can register a domain and redirect it to another site. I'm not the one who made that into a political statement - you are.

25. No
It's probably some individual domain owner with a lousy sense of humor. The name of the domain owner is hidden behind a privacy WHOIS service. Since most of the sites that share the same IP as the RNC have public WHOIS info (all stating RNC ownership) it goes to reason this domain belongs to an outside person, pointing their domain to the RNC's DNS server.

Just the same. Wouldn't it be fun to ask the RNC if they do indeed own that domain? :)

If this is how they spend their donors' contributions, no wonder they can't win these days.

12. Folks, I just want to point something out.
The fact that it redirects to GOP.com doesn't mean GOP.com owns it. Anybody can do this with any domain. There's nothing to stop any of you from buying miserablefailure.org and redicrecting it to whitehouse.gov.

41. They are scared...
...my family lives in IL. My sister kept me informed of Obama before he ever became a senator. She was amazed that he was such a popular candidate for senator despite the fact he was black and had a foreign-sounding name so close to you-know-whose... Interesting that this is one of those GOP domains :) Keep in mind he's playing well in Peoria...
