Senator Coburn thinks zoos, museums, aquaria are "luxuries".
:wtf:

He was bitching about the projects in the stimulus plan and swore that parks, zoos, musea, aquaria projects are things "we cannot afford".

:wtf:

Oklahoma never ceases to amaze me!! And I thought Texas was backwards!

17. Well, there is Mary Fallin.
I have no idea why she hates everyone so much.
I feel sorry for me having to live in Oklahoma. Did you see how happy everyone was when no county in Oklahoma went Blue? They were fucking bragging about it, ass backwards idiots.

20. I don't get it, Duckie
Our state should be ashamed.

The ONLY reason I am here is family. Oh, well, the fact that I am buying my house from a relative at 1% doesn't hurt either. But family is the overwhelming reason. If they weren't here, I'd be gone as soon as I could choose a new place to go.

What shames me even MORE is that registered Dems outnumber Repugs in our state. I'd love to know a way to turn things around and make Oklahoma Dems actually BE Dems!

21. We need to get them off their lazy asses to vote!
Worse news: Mary Fallin is running for Governor next year. I really hope she tried to pull the family values bullshit, and I hope someone brings up the fact that she fucked around on her husband with her state trooper guard. Did that shit get swept under the rug? Why didn't someone bring that up when she was running for the house?

3. I think he also included highway repair as a "luxury".
We just can't afford nice roads according to this asshole.

The GOP death-wish continues.

18. Guess he has not driven Oklahoman roads
Especially Highway 75..right around Stringtown (near McAlister). I've driven that road 2-3 times a year for that last 21 years and I STILL have to remind myself "it is NOT my tire going flat, it is the fucking never ending road potholes rattling my car".
I felt bad for one driver that I passed by on one my trips. Guess he was not familiar with the crappy-roads-feel-like-a-deflated-tire because he was on the side of the road, out of his car and walking around his car inspecting his tires. I felt like yelling out the window "it ain't your tires (yet, anyway)...welcome to Oklahoma"
And it was NOT a coincidence that both me and a co-worker who took separate trips to Oklahoma last summer both really did get a flat tire after traveling that state's highways and roads.
I've told my sis up there who complains about their state taxes that it is safe to say that the money is NOT going to the state's infrastructure!!

And all of the above doesn't include news reports like the Oklahoma bridge that collapsed a few years back, sending cars into a river!

15. honest to god now
I know why this congress can't get anything done. If they were in a business meeting or at an after school program nothing would get resolved. They come to the floor with long drawn out stories about nothing. For instance Tom Coburn R- Oklahoma is up now and just going on and on without disclosing the context of what he is talking about and I think this is the third time today he has been up. Is there any kind of limited time for Dems and Repubs on any topic ever ? there should be.

5. Well, they kind of are.

There's a lot of taxpayer money spent on the arts and such that would be better spent on health care, imo.

I'm not necessarily against spending money on those things because I do recognize that they have some value, but if we're in a crunch -- and we kind of are -- I'd rather spend money on more pressing issues.

Still, I don't give these conservatives any credibility when they complain, after spending eight years of ruining this country.

(edit: typo)

11. I would spend it on health care if the markup wasn't so damn high
Funding for a large museum for a year that thousands of schoolchildren will visit, or 8 babies born to a mother with 6 already?

10. He's a whackjob.
Roberts, too. Coburn also thinks these projects don't create jobs and are not priorities, and we're 'stealing' from our grandchildren if we fund them.

I think we're stealing from our grandchildren if we don't maintain zoos, bike paths, museums etc.
