Obama: No Prosecuting, Raiding Users

WASHINGTON -- It's a touchy subject, one the White House isn't directly commenting on, at least not yet.

But there are signs that U.S. policy is about to change when it comes to medical marijuana.

As a candidate, President Barack Obama repeatedly promised a change in federal drug policy in situations where state laws allow use of medical marijuana. He's on record as saying he would not have the Justice Department "prosecuting and raiding medical marijuana users."

The new president is unlikely to make any official change in policy before he has a new DEA chief and drug czar in place.

Yet experts believe it's already clear the Obama administration will change the strategy, if not the law, on medical marijuana.

Thirteen states have laws permitting medicinal use of marijuana.

And if we're really worried about cutting government spending and "pork", we should start with the DEA, the "drug czar" and the $40 Billion a yr. we spend fighting pot smoking.

Why doesn't Obama show some real guts and abolish the position?

a "Mars Czar" for NASA, and lastly, we should have a "Czar Czar" to deal with the problem of all these fucking Czars running around DC like it's some kind of Romanov family reunion.

And a "Jafar Czar" to oversee the evil cartoon nemesis from Disney's Aladdin.

It way past the time to legalize marijuana. Legalize, regulate and tax it. And let all the people out of jail that are in for possession, sale and use. It's just ridiculous.

She's been too ill to talk or email this weekend. I'm thinking legalized marijuana would be helping her with the side effects if it were made available. How sad so many have to endure even more suffering because of the righteous few who are afraid to legalize this "drug".

But it falls far short of what SHOULD be done.Although I support MMJ and the patients who benefit from its use,what about those adults who choose to use it without having a pretty little card issued by their state of residence?Maybe some of us don't want to be on a government list?

Really,what about personal liberties and freedoms?That is the question in my mind,and I can't imagine a more important topic than personal rights and liberties.
