1. Nice graph... do they show other recessions/depressions?
I'd also like to see the 1982 recession and the 1929 Depression and others..

The one problem with plotting them against one another is that America has grown in population so do these numbers need to be normalized to some "standard" population year for the sake of comparing apples to apples?

One problem with the unemployment rate is that the definition has been changed to hide the unemployed because they were embarassing to the elected politicians at re-election time.

7. So roughly 2 million jobs a year for 4 years straight
corrected for population would be 5 million a year for 4 years straight today.

Things could be worse folks...

5. This ain't no freakin' recession: nobody knows how deep whatever this is is going and how long
it will last for the entire banking system, in toto, is almost surely insolvent and our government would be likewise except it can keep printing money even if it has little/no value. :P

6. If you took each unemployed person and laid them end to end ....
A few days ago, the Daily Show was making fun of GOP lines about hundred dollar bills laid end to end around the world. I think someone should figure out the length if you took every unemployed person and laid them end to end ...

8. 3.6 million people x an average height of 5' 6" gives 19.8 million feet
or 3750 statute miles. More than enough to stretch coast to coast.

:(
