Police find 22 dogs in station wagon with owner
Edited on Tue Feb-10-09 10:05 AM by Mari333

POTTSBORO, Texas (AP) -- North Texas authorities seized 22 dogs found crammed inside a station wagon with their owner. The owner locked the car doors and refused to come out when a constable tried to serve her a warrant for the seizure of the dogs early Monday, said SPCA spokeswoman Maura Davies.

Two puppies and 20 dogs were taken to a shelter until a judge decides who gets custody, the SPCA said. A hearing on the custody of the animals is set for Feb. 16 in Denison.

2. We had a homeless lady up here who had 3 dogs and 2 cats in
her car. She would not go to a shelter because her animals could not go with her. Very difficult situation to resolve especially when the temps were going below freezing and she was sleeping in her car.

7. We had a homeless man living in his car in my office parking lot.
His dog lived there with him. He also would not go to a shelter because of his dog. I can understand that feeling. Some of us left him groceries including dog food a few times.

I'm glad they were rescued from her. I wish they'd do more with her before they set her loose.

6. Bless her.
The woman obviously needs help. I hope the dogs find homes, she gets her mental health back, and then perhaps a puppy or two to keep her company.
