Octomom had little to do with her six children, spent all her money on cosmetic surgery and IVF

I'd really like to hear anyone try and justify how a mother of six, who acknowledges she had her six children are struggling financially can still afford a ton of cosmetic surgery which she has already had.
Here's the interview, where the grandmother confirms her and the grandfather has financially taken care of the children, and Suleman never gave any money for the children. Or had much to do with them at all.

I really, really hope social services are looking into this. And not because she has so many kids, no one has ever tried to take legal action against the duggars for example, but she's simply unfit to be a mother.

1. The Duggars > Octo-Mom
At least the Duggars can provide for their huge family.

CPS plz intervene.

This woman is so messed up in the head, her poor kids and parents are/will suffer.

4. What makes you think the Duggars can provide for their huge family?
That is, without help from their community?

6. They work in real estate, don't they?
Also, some of their kids are over 18 now, and can support themselves.

I'm not saying they're rich, but they seem to be doing well.

9. Um- no they don't "provide"
"And, they fail to mention, donations. No family of 20 could get by on a single income—something any reporter who’s ever collected a paycheck ought to be able to surmise. In truth, the Duggars subsist on food donations from Sysco; supplement their bank accounts with contributions from other evangelical Christians and their church; and built their 7,000-square-foot “dream house” with donated supplies and decked it out with appliances donated by the Discovery Channel. Once it was built, the Discovery Channel sent the whole family on a trip to Disneyland. They also reportedly pay the Duggars for their participation. That’s not frugality—it’s welfare. The more babies Michelle Duggar has, the more free stuff she and her family get. The Republicans had a name for that… if only I could remember what it was."

12. how is it welfare?
if folks want to donate money to them then more power to them.

if they are celebrity stars then they are fairly classified as entertainers (not that I have much interest in watching) and thus earn whatever Discovery wants to give them to film them and make money off of them.

my tax dollars aren't paying a whole lot of their expenses from what I can gather, so it's not welfare.

11. I don't think it's the $$ so much as that the Duggars are at least
differet ages. There are teenagers. With octomom they are all babies and under 7. that's got to be dangerous with a one to 14 adult/child ratio.

2. Where was the mention of cosmetic surgery?
I didn't see that in the article posted, not that I disagree - she looked like she was fresh off of a collagen injection on TV - but still.

5. The mother cofirmed in another interview her money towards IVF not the other kids
Edited on Tue Feb-10-09 10:42 AM by galaxy21
and they never saw a dime of her disability pay. As for the cosmetic surgery, unless she somehow got it free, it's very obvious she was spening money on that, that she could have spent on her kids. Despite the fact she's acknowledged how much they struggle financially.

Why get new lips, when your kids are living in cramped house life that?

3. It was pretty obvious from the start that this woman wasn't right somehow. It
just gets more and more bizarre the more info that comes out. Where is her IVF doc? I'd like to here what
his rationale is for helping this woman follow her compulsions. Weird.

7. No way are social services going to let 14 kids live in such cramped conditions
with one mother (the grandmother says she's leaving).

Her only hope was to make a fortune off this, and then she could say she was hiring a bunch on nannies, but even that doesn't seem to be happening since people have really turned against her.

10. When thinking about why a doctor would assist this women, it makes
one think the doctor was not in his/her right mind. But the doctor sidesteps responsibility by saying that it is not their place to tell her not to have these children she wants. This doc. also seems distracted by outside influences and not able to put the wellbeing of the prior six children into perspective.

17. Social services will step in when the hysteria dies down.
People always give SS a bad rap, when it appears a kid or family falls through the cracks.

The reality couldn't be further from the truth.

SS is generally grossly underfunded and grossly understaffed. And anytime some sort of "bad" news story comes out slamming them, the result is usually the opposite, they get their funds cut. I know, makes no sense what so ever.

So given the landscape, SS has to be very careful in how they handle high profile cases.

given the fact that this breeder of small nations is all the rage right now, and her 15 minutes are already stretching the limits of what is acceptable to most humans stomachs, she will vanish into the haze very soon.

various stories that are now being reported about how fit she is to be a mother will make her flame out soon. She will vanish into the shadows.

It will be then that SS will step in and probably in less than a year, there will be some sort of small story located on page 19 next to a story for yet another business imploding, indicating that she has lost all rights to her children and that they have been placed in homes of relatives while she undergoes a mental examination.

18. I don't buy that she's mentally ill. I think she's extremely selfish and immature.
Showing extraordinarily bad judgment and selfishness does not mean a person is mentally ill. Some people are just selfish assholes with really, really bad judgment. I think Suleman is an example of that.

Or rather us. We're paying for this extravaganza.
