Thom Hartman made a great point tonight
He said Obama's strength is town hall meetings. Just like Roosevelt, whose strength was fireside chats, Obama is a master at town hall meetings.

So he needs to keep having them, continue reaching out to the people and forget about having those meetings with Republicans lawmakers who are nearly en masse opposed to him and his policies.

1. Thom is right, as usual. Obama's strength is with and from the people
not from meetings with self-serving sociopaths.

2. I would love to see him do it in some of those red states
Not necessarily the Hard Red ones but say a district that was a little more blue, and see how if they want the stimulus(Main Street Job Creation Act) or not. I bet even in blood red Oklahoma, they want it badly.

3. President Obama is 'The President of The People'.
He is actually channeling "We The People". I don't think words can express how much I love this man and his family.

4. No, no! MCCAIN'S strength is town hall meetings

Obama is just a celebrity!

But yeah, Obama has proven that the more people he meets the better it is for him, I think these meetings along with the bully pulpit will keep him popular which in turn helps with the popularity of his policies and ideas.

6. I thought Ravi Batra made an excellent point on today's show
That the fact that Obama isn't really trying radically new economic policies YET is a GOOD thing because no matter what you do now things are going to get worse. The conservatives would then be able to discredit the new policies when they don't seem to work (because nothing CAN work at this point.)

Timing the shift from the old policies to the new is going to be very important.

7. I totally agree.
He cannot do too many of them. People feel better when they hear from him. And fuck the Republicans. If they want to be obstructionist, let them. We should float the bill WE WANT.
