Repblic Party Hypocrites
GOP Move To Bring Bosnia Troops Home
Two leading House Republicans, skeptical that the U.S. can help build a lasting peace in Bosnia, want to cut off funds for the mission by Sept. 30.
http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1997/03/21/bosnia/

"You can support the troops without supporting the president." - Trent Lott

"Just because President Clinton has made a decision and the troops are already landing, I'm not going to endorse a wrong decision after the fact." - Trent Lott

"Congress should support the troops without endorsing the president's policy." - Arlen Specter

"Well, I don't support the policy so much as I support the troops."- Pat Buchanan

"There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable."-Tom DeLay

"It would be wrong to make our young men and women bear the brunt of a decision not made by them. We don't support the president's decision. We do support the troops." - Bob Dole

"The President . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy."
--Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA)

"I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning . . I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area."
--Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is."
--Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)

"It's very simple. The president is not supported by the House, and the military is supported by the House." -Tom Delay

But here's my favorite:

"I think it's also important for the president to lay out a timetable as to how long U.S. troops will be involved and when they will be withdrawn."
-George W. bUsh. June 5, 1999

But only when the president has a (D), eh bush?

2. I think a Republican today is incapable of telling the truth.
It's always about how their base will receive their comments. I think even the base is tired of politicians that can't tell the truth.
