Florida cop resigns after being linked to KKK

A police officer has resigned from his department after being linked to the Ku Klux Klan.

Fruitland Park reserve officer James Elkins, 28, quit his job at the Fruitland Park Police Department on Jan. 20 amid allegations that Klan literature being distributed in Sumter County had come from his Post Office box.

Elkins was initially suspended amid the allegations and his badge and gun were taken away.

His resignation and ties to the group picked up more exposure this week after pictures of Elkins in Klan regalia as well as a Klan certificate with his name on it were sent to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

I saw this on the front page of the newspaper in Leesburg, FL (less than an hour outside of Orlando) over the weekend. Nice way to perpetuate a stereotype, asshole!

here's an idea for stimulus:

hire progressives to do background checks on all public officials, officers, etc.

Also, a background check would not have found out he was a member of a club like this.

According to the SPLC there are 38 identified racists groups in Tennessee, 42 in Georgia, 45 in South Carolina, 24 in Alabama & 28 in North Carolina. There are also 26 in New York, 33 in Pennsylvania & 34 in New Jersey.

Hate crimes in the North far outnumber those of the South. In 2008, there were 34 incidents reported in Pennsylvania, 68 in New York & 18 in New Jersey, compared to 11 in North Carolina, 8 in South Carolina, 9 in Tennessee, 9 in Alabama & 8 in Georgia. nor just in the south. my Niece-in-law got a job in the state public Defenders office. (she always wanted to be a prosecutor but a job is a job) Four months since she got the job, she now has a negative adjective for every Department. She is recoiling at the obvious bigotry, bias and incarceration fetish MOST cops have.

She even said her job has given her a new appreciation for me and my attitude.
