South Side man flings dog into car door, causing its death

A South Side man who threw his girlfriend's lap dog against a door in an apparent fit of jealous anger was charged with felony animal cruelty, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Keith Middleton, 29, flung the woman's Shih Tzu on Dec. 12 when she refused to tell him whether she had been talking on the phone with another man, Assistant State's Atty. Erin Antonietti said.

The dog was later euthanized as a result of its injuries.

Dog Killer Sent to Prison

A San Jose judge on Friday threw the book at the man who threw Leo the bichon frise into traffic, sentencing him to the maximum three years in state prison for a road rage incident that left the dog dead and animal lovers outraged.

In sentencing Andrew Burnett, 27, Superior Court Judge Kevin J. Murphy ignored a probation report that recommended a lighter sentence and brushed off Burnett’s apology and plea for leniency.

“If there’s anything I could ever say or do to bring back Leo, I would,” Burnett told the court.

During the 90-minute sentencing hearing in San Jose, Burnett’s mother begged the judge for a lighter sentence for her son, who was convicted of felony animal cruelty three weeks ago.

It really takes a sub-human to abuse animals. I can understand violence and abuse against adults better than I can against children or animals. Children and animals only want to be loved and love others. It's the nasty adults like this guy who teach them to be mean and afraid.

Sorry it turned out this way for you little dog. Things will be better for you at Rainbow Bridge until it's time for you to cross over with your loved ones when their time comes.

I forget what the exact stats are, but a large chunk of abusers either threaten, abuse, or kill their victims' pets.

If a big man like yourself finds in necessary to abuse a little dog, perhaps you should go and fuck yourself. You are a violent piece of crap - I can only hope you serve time in jail.

Why don't you leave this one to those of us who care both about the dog and the woman who would likely have faced the same fate at some point in the future.
