A friend of my daughter was murdered
Edited on Fri Feb-13-09 07:20 PM by GA_ArmyVet
last night along with the rest of the family by their Park Ranger husband/father.

I just can not understand how anyone can get to that point in their life that they believe this becomes an acceptable decision in their minds.

Anyway heres the link..

5. She is devastated
we had to pick her up early at school. The School counselors called the girls friends in and broke the news...They actually did a pretty good job with that. An absolute shocker for everyone in the community. That just does not happen here in the Northern VA Suburbs..I mean I know it does, but still has not happened in the here in this county since I have been here.

6. I am so sorry. I hope you and your daughter are Ok and can get
past this. I don't understand why this kind of thing happens either but I hope somehow it starts to disappear from our culture eventually.

8. I'm so sorry for you and your daughter...
What a horrible thing.

I don't understand either. There's a lot of this going on, and it makes me feel like there's a thin veil of propriety over society, and it's slowly being torn away. I've had some devastating occurrences in my life, but I always figured if it ever got really bad, I'd just run away... start a new life somewhere... this is too final a solution.

10. I am so sorry GA.
That is just so tragic. The second horrific murder of a child (or in this case children) by a parent in Virginia this week. I hope there will be some counseling available to children like your daughter who went to school with and were friends of these children.

15. So Park Rangers murder more people than Concealed Handgun License holders do...
in national parks?

I'm sorry to hear that innocent people died, hopefully he will get the death penalty.

20. Similar incident in Iowa City last Easter
Family got up and went to early mass on Easter Morning. Four adopted kids from South Korea, dad a former bank VP who was about to go on trial for embezzling, mom a trained teacher turned full-time mom of those dear little children. Somewhere around midnite, dad took a baseball bat to kill mom, then systematically went after the kids, one by one. The image of the terror those children must have felt still haunts me. Then dad took the car and drove it into the Iowa River in an attempt to drown. That didn't work out, so he headed out on I-80, crashed into a bridge, and exploded into flames. Why didn't he just do that in the first place and leave mom and kids out of it?

22. OMG!! That is unreal. My condolences to you and
your daughter. She has got to be hurting at this time. Please tell her not to second guess herself. A co-worker was stabbed to death by her husband a few years ago and people at work started second guessing themselves and asking,"if only I'd done X" Well it is difficult to try to intervene even when one is SURE something is going on.

I'm sure your daughter did all she could for her friend.

23. I am so sorry for your daughter and her friend and kids. What
a horrible and cowardly thing for him to do. And then call the police? It is so senseless. Right now, I'm wishing he had done himself, too.

24. Thank you all for the kind words and advice
My wife and I have been sitting up with my daughter all day. She asks the same question we all have been asking. Why would you do something like this, what could possibly be wrong with you that your brain thinks this is the right thing to do.

27. I am so sorry.
Just cannot understand why people do this.

My mother had a work colleague whose son was despondent over his family situation and killed himself one night. The only good thing about it was that he took no one with him when he decided to go. Horrible nonetheless.
