What the republicans reminded me of last week - by Rurallib
Last week republican lawmakers reminded me of something that I had experienced in my life. After some thought it came to me. Third grade catechism recitation.
Every day each of us would have to stand in front of the class and recite our Baltimore catechism questions and answers under the watchful eye of God in the person of Sister Mary Hulk Hogan. Should we make a mistake or in the case of the boys, be thought to not be sincere, Sister Mary Hulk would smite us with the ruler of God.
Well, last week republicans trooped to the podium to repeat four or five talking points given to them by their God, Rush Limbaugh. I would like to repeat the points, but I quit paying attention after the second one. But the point here is that the republican lawmakers were being watched over not by Sister Mary Hulk but by the unseen spirit of Rush. Should any one of the many older, white men who trod dutifully to the podium not repeat their points perfectly or not show the proper spirit, the wrath of Rush wil be called down upon them. Faulty republicans could look forward to crazy threatening calls, emails and LTTEs in local papers.
Keeping republicans in line is very similar to keeping 3rd grade boys in line. Let them have the fear of their God brought down on them.
Amen.

1. Rush, leader of the republicans!
An admitted drug addict, a known pathological liar, a bigot, a racist, and a draft dodger. What better person to represent the republicans?

2. I just couldn't believe how cookie cutter their speeches were
Mrs. Lib and I were watching CSPAN like a slo-mo train wreck. Repuke after Repuke (all white men I am pretty sure) went to the mike and repeated almost verbatim what the guy beforew him had said. It was almost like a twilight zone story.

for the same group that has been running the game since it began. He has visibility because of his media 'stardom', but he is no more the brains behind their party than Bush was.

Nonetheless a slime bag, of course.

5. A Real Void...
Look at the GOOP like a sports team. This "franchise" was on a big winning streak and got caught up in their press clippings. The team got greedy...going for the gold rather than building for a future. They became smug and cocky...and sloppy...soon they were losing. Now they have no bench, no leadership, and the only "leader" is the radio announcer.

The GOOP still hasn't faced the reality that it's a party that's not only out of step with the American people, but are at war among themselves. Rushbo fills a void between the fundies, the neo-cons and other groups who need a good hate to unite. Without that, the party totally disolves. Rushbo masks the real divisions within and the party's real lack of vision and leadership. They're living in a fantasy past...and here's the only candidate who they all can rally around...
