The kid is a future Dahmer.

I couldn't watch the video- hearing descriptions of it was sickening enough for me.

--and they were indisputably torturing that cat--I hope that a 14 year old can handle all the shit raining down on him from the entire World Wide Web.

Jail is obviously not going to happen, but while some sort of punishment should definitely enacted, I don't really want to see this kid's life destroyed before he has a chance to turn into a responsible adult. And when I say life, I'm thinking about the possibility of suicide--when you're at that age, everything seems larger than life.

If this keeps up, the Witness Protection Program may be a good idea....

has an uphill climb to being a responsible adult, publicity or not. Animal cruelty and arson are the two big indicators of a serial killer in the making.

This kid needs counseling and punishment--but not threatening phone calls and letters to his house.

now it's just a matter of honing his skills. It's unlikely to end well for this kid, nor for the people who cross his path. And I don't think there's much you can do about it at this point except keep a close watch on him and try to head him off when he tries something else.

He'll turn into a serial killer or a rapist or something. Personally, I don't have any concern for the boy. He's not wired right.

He's a monster. There is no such thing as rehabilitation. Let him reap as he sowed.

People who abuse animals usually lean toward abusing people as well.

I have no sympathy at all for someone who would abuse an animal. NONE.

Young Bush Blew Up Frogs

This is old, but I just came across it. George W. Bush's Journey: A Philosophy With Roots in Conservative Texas Soil quotes a childhood friend of George W Bush:

"We were terrible to animals," recalled Mr. Throckmorton, laughing. A dip behind the Bush home turned into a small lake after a good rain, and thousands of frogs would come out.

"Everybody would get BB guns and shoot them," Mr. Throckmorton said. "Or we'd put firecrackers in the frogs and throw them and blow them up."

I am happy to read that Dusty is safe.

Right now, I am crying for the poor animal outside my door who wasn't. I am getting ready to take him to the vet to be euthanized. I have no idea who his owner is or was.

He has been showing up at my back door after dark to feed on whatever scraps I put out for him. At one time, he was a beautiful siamese, with bright blue eyes. We called him Possum, because when I first saw him on the deck, I thought that's what he was.

Today, he is no longer wanting to eat. One ear is half its normal size. The other is swelled up from an infection. He has a discharge from his nose and eyes, and his breathing is shallow. I can feel his spine and ribs.

From past experience, I am pretty sure it is Feline Leukemia or FIV. Since my back door is a magnet for homeless or neglected critters, I feel I have no choice but to end his suffering, and to keep him from spreading whatever he has from others.

We have lots of ferals here. I seem to be a magnet for them as well, though I'm not sure why. I think it's my huge garden. They feel safe there. Anyway, I found a kitten that was blind and utterly spent due to frequent convulsions. She couldn't even walk. I had to take her to the vet and they confirmed that euthanasia was the most humane option; she was very sick, and without costly tests, no way to tell what the problem was. The vet was terribly kind to me because I was so upset. I pretty much cried all the way home. Poor baby. I still think of her often.

I just got back from the vet. The kitty had a temp of 105. After examining him, she felt that he had an infectious disease. He also had a major infection going on in his mouth from bad teeth. She told me that he had so little body fat left, that the cold weather alone would be enough to kill him.

Anyway, he went peacefully without so much as a whimper. I am glad I took him, I think he probably was too.

It's big headlines here. I can't bear to watch the video. He's probably a young republican.

This is one of the scary states.
