My mother basically did the same thing to her *own* bras in the 1960s, along with millions of other liberated American women. Only difference was, she didn't use a machete. So tell me... was my mother a misogynist for slicing up a bra?

I find the machete thing pretty disturbing.

Cramer is a nut and a clown; it's part of his larger-than-life schtick. If fruits were down, he probably would have Gallaghered them with a huge mallet and covered the cameramen in pulp.

My mom is probably glad she got rid of the bra anyway; in the 1950s she broke a classmate's nose after he snapped hers in the hallway. The principal, a male, chose to congratulate her rather than suspend her.

The SEC lawyers are probably threatened like US Atty's if they seek insider trading against prominent Repukes (and Kramer certainly fits that mold, holding the keys to a $450M fund he personally commands).

All I heard in that segment were generalized statements about how hedge funds managers manipulate the market which is not exactly an admission of his own tactics when he was running his hedge fund.

Specifically, how they "spin" news on a company like RIM to improve their intra-day gains. In other words, how the fund mgrs play the market.

He says in the video that when managing his fund, he would screw with idiot money in the market by buying a put position (betting a stock would go down) then would say false derogatory things about the company's future so that his put position would make his fund a ton of money. TOTALLY, TOTALLY illegal. Absolute textbook market manipulation and securities fraud.

He also describes a scheme where he mocks the SEC's inability to understand his schemes, in fact calling the SEC stupid, which is typically a suicidal thing to do. (Under Bush, apparently less so)

He also describes another, much more esoteric (to the beginner anyway) scheme to defraud stockholders of RIM(Research in Motion) gains by forcing that stock down with manipulation by creating fake buying pressure with a few million dollars of his own money, THEN would talk the stock down to other big brokers and make the margin.

This shit undermines trust in the market, which causes other stocks to go down, which causes capital flight, which fucks the economy and weakens the ability of legitimate (initial) stocks to raise money for legitimate business endeavors.

Sorry I don't see anything criminal on Cramer's part. Not enough specifics and certainly not illegal. What I see is a need for more transparency in the how the hedge managers operate. Yes it is market manipulation, but the manner in which this was done is not criminal (at least as the SEC operates today).

BTW... You really don't need to explain "puts" to me... I have many of them :)

After he said it he said..."OOPS! The secret's out now!" I didn't see this interview. A friend of mine did though.

He has provided me with enough information over the years about how to make money, that frankly I could care less about his political affiliation.
When he recommends a big phara, oil, or bio stock, I generally listen to the analysis but don't invest - why? Thats my call not his. I would however, consider him a flake if he only did analysis on stocks we on the left like.

I listen to Cramer for one reason only... to understand how companies are performing. My task it to decide if I care to act on that information.
