Wonkette: HOW Politico WRITES Its POLITICAL SCOOPLETS From HELL
"We know that a few of you might consider this “inside baseball,” so if that’s the case, then don’t read any more of this post and go do something else. Easy! Now: The New Republic heard the kids’ clamoring and has decided to release the full, insane Politico memo quoted in its new story, about Politico. Mike Allen, or whoever wrote this, is basically an evil version of Hitler. "

3. One-sentence summary:
Focus on power and how people are using it, get things out there quickly, and try to craft narratives that will stick in people's heads instead of reporting facts and leaving it at that.

7. Most telling sentence IMHO
"This is a Darwinian business. People are not looking for more to read. They need to NEED and WANT each individual story in POLITICO"

9. Honestly there was little I would disagree with, in terms of their view of the news business and the
internet. I would be happier if it wasn't run by Republicans, but at least their business model, unlike FAUX news, doesn't seem to be loaded with rightwing ideology.

13. I fail to see anything nefarious in the memo - you see mission statements like that all the time
That is just the open thinking of a manager defining what their business is and how it has to be accomplished if they intend to stay in business. I would expect it of any manager and I would expect every employee to be familiar with it as well. What's the problem.

Oh, and I know the history on Politico - that is another matter. Nothing in the memo points at a bent toward right-wing extremism.
