This is ridiculously picayune: New Word

I'm not kidding, little things like this scare me.

All my life I have been around people who worked in the finance sector. The term that I have always heard used to describe the situation where a borrower owes more on something than its worth has been "upside down". Two or three weeks ago the term was all over the news to describe many home loans. And then it changed. All of a sudden all of these loans were "underwater". I had never head that term used before.

What was that little turd's name, Yoda or something like that? Remember when the planet blew up and even though he was a universe or two away he felt it anyway? Well, that's how I feel, somewhere somehow there has been this little quake in the force - something is amiss.


Notes to self:
New Word: Underwater
Phrase it replaces: Upside down
Implication: Somebody's fuckin' with the language again and we've seen what they can do with that

My stock options from two former employers were "under water" shortly after I received them 8-10 years ago
