Stimulate me... Now what?
Looking around at the news the last few days I have seen where certain govenors don't want to take all or part of the stimulus money for their state. I thought this was pretty stupid at first.. and in some ways it is.. in some ways it isn't. The reasoning behind the lack of desire to take the money revolves around future budgets. States calculate their budgets on projected revenue.. the same way that you and I do our budgets (if you do one... smile) and the reason that most states are in trouble is that revnues are down and they have already spent the money.
Apparentley the stimulus money has to be spent on certain programs at the state level and in a couple of years that money will run out. So what do we do at that point? Reduce the programs or come up with another way to fund it?
