Unbelievable: Latest Conservative Meme
"Small businesses are closing now because of the government intrusion, excessive taxation, over regulation, an increasingly hostile climate for the small business owner. Business owners, more and more, are going to shut down and work for someone else as 'the government crawls deeper and deeper into our pockets.'"

"And, of course, it's all Obama's fault." <barf>

1. That sounds like their tired, old regular meme.
I see they left off what the Wal-Marts of the world have been doing to small businesses.

4. My Small Business Closed in 2004
because my customers were losing their auto jobs, moving out of state, and when Bush stole the 2nd election, I threw in the towel. Things were not going to get better with him in office, and they didn't. I couldn't carry a startup another 4 years, and I wouldn't go in debt to so so. And the only reason I tried was Clinton's economy, and the prospect that Gore would continue the good work!

So George, you won. You POS. Had I known, I would have cashed everything out and moved to Canada in 1999. I would be very comfortably well off, and have health care, too!

6. As a small business owner... I get it and its not unbelievable.
I can totally relate. We are taxed out the ass. We don't even have enough cash at the end of the year to payoff the previous years tax liability. Starting in April, we will be paying 2K a month in 2008 taxes (for the rest of the year) and will be required to pay an additional 2K a month estimated quarterly for 2009. Add that to the part time employee that we have to pay taxes on, business taxes, Portland trimet taxes, personal property taxes, and the increased personal property taxes of the building we rent office space in that adds up to another thousand a year.

I totally effing get it. We ask ourselves at least once a week whether we'd be better off shutting down our clinic and working for someone else. We work from the time we get up til almost bed time.

But. I don't blame Obama.

7. Small businesses are closing because their middle class customer base
is headed to the poorhouse.

You can give me all the tax breaks in the world - if people can't afford to spend money on their cats it won't matter in the least.

Dumbasses.

8. When booosh Came In I Sold My Small Business...
I knew I didn't stand a chance as the foxes were now in control. Bigger was better and the little guys had no advocates and faced an onslaught of consolidations and mergers that destroyed even more competition. The booosh years were the worst for anyone to either start a small business or try to keep it going.

If they're so "in favor" of the little guy, the the GOOP should jump quickly on reregulating many industries...level the playing field so that small American companies can compete against the big multinationals. Yeah, we know that's gonna happen.

Wrapping these slimebags up in their own hypocrisy is no longer amusing.
