Republicans on prowl for political hopefuls use Craigslist

TROY — In a sign their party is embracing the Internet age and hunting for candidates, Troy Republicans are posting on Craigslist.

City Chairman Tom Casey turned to the free classified Web site to help offset the loss of former state Sen. Joseph Bruno, who was a one-man patronage and funding source for the local GOP.

The Troy Republican Committee's venture online reflects the clout of the Internet in telling people what's happening and it role in changing the political landscape,

"It's an electronic age. Everybody's on Craigslist now,'' Casey said.

Listed since Jan. 27 in the political category is "Run For City Council (Troy).'' Click on it and there's an emphatic "The Troy Republican Committee Wants YOU!"

He did answer an ad for a "political candidate", but it was already decided Richard would be the candidate before the ad was run and was specifically written as to not exclude him.

Maybe Not-Joe the Not-a-Plumber will apply?
