Thanks to Rahm Emmanuel, I am no longer represented by JD Hayworth
There have been a few posts today about the Ryan Lizza article and I understand that he's a polarizing figure in a lot of ways. He's abrasive and can be a real dick at times. I totally get that there was a clash between him and Dean and that people who love Dean (and I include myself among them) didn't take kindly to the way he treated him. So I completely understand that some folks have a visceral reaction to him.

But I will always have a tender spot in my heart for the man who was responsible for ridding the 5th Congressional District of Arizona of this creep:

The story goes that Harry Mitchell, popular state senator and former mayor of Tempe, was reluctant to take on Hayworth and not particularly interested in being in Congress. Rahm and the DCCC decided he'd be a perfect fit in a tough, but somewhat competitive district. Supposedly Rahm called Harry every hour on the hour for about 2 weeks straight, until he wore Harry down and got him to agree. The rest, as they say, is history. I understand that some of Rahm's handpicked candidates in other districts didn't do so well but he really nailed it on this one.

5. If only we'd be rid of my AZ representative, Shadegg, as well.
Wishful thinking in my very RED district.
