arne duncan....education secretary....
seems like a sharp cookie

norah blowdonnell was trying to rattle him

handled himself well

From 1987 to 1991, Duncan played professional basketball in Australia with the Eastside Spectres of the National Basketball League,<11> and while there, worked with children who were wards of the state. He also played with the Rhode Island Gulls and tried out for the New Jersey Jammers.<12> While in Tasmania he met his future wife, Karen. A Time article also mentions that he has played pickup games with Michael Jordan.

1. He seems to be a shill for corporatizing schools and breaking unions.
Having meetings at Chi stadiums with no professional or community people involved. Closing schools and firing tenured staff. Reorganizing schools into charters with no union teachers.

3. Did you see Norah O'Donnell give it to that Republican,

John somebody, yesterday?

He's usually one of the toughest ones the Rethugs put on teevee, but she was ready for him and had him stammering and sinking back in his chair before it was over.

It was a beautiful thing to see.

Mr. Jane Austin thinks Rachel Maddow has been chatting up the other anchors in the break room. Heh.

(Edited to make my comment make sense.)

5. Great, just what we need, a sharp cookie tryinig to fuck up the education system
It was bad enough that a dull cookie was able to fuck it up, now we've got a sharp one coming in to finish the job.

I swear, despite all the rhetoric about teaching being the most important job out there, that our schools should come first, that education should be top priority, our schools, our education system, our children are nothing more than a political football to be kicked around.

We don't need Duncan, this man is huge into privatizing schools and charter schools. What we need is to repeal NCLB and start refunding our education system again. Is that too much to ask. I suppose so, since Obama was more than willing to cut out billions for school construction from the stimulus package.
