Eulogy
Edited on Tue Mar-27-07 11:54 AM by cssmall
I pardon the interruption and know that this is probably the wrong place to put this; however, I must write this and I want it in a place that people can see easily. I learned today that mikimouse passed away March 8, 2007 from his battle with cancer. There had been no news thus far and I knew that there would be interested parties to hear this somber news.

Yet, that is not enough for what he meant to me personally and professionally. Without him, I would not be where I am at today, nearing completion of my graduate degree. But, it was so much more than that. He aided those around him, in his courses and his life, to realize the connections between ourselves and everyone else. His battle with alcoholism taught that people can change with the right help, they can succeed and climb from their addictions. The world is replete with those that lie, those that falter and those that give up. I can honestly say that he was not that type of person and he could inspire the best from a student that just couldn't bring himself to care anymore.

Having never done things like this before, I haven't a clue of how to continue except to tell you all that he knows he is in better place. From my time and my stories shared with him, I know this without a shadow of a doubt. My thesis will now be dedicated to the memory of the person that helped me cope and understand the world that I was entering, so that this sociologist, teacher and friend will never be forgotten.

9. I'm sorry.
I went back and read some of his old posts. He seemed like he was a kind and gentle soul.

May he find peace and comfort.
