Rush - 20 million listeners?

Is there any truth to this. How exactly do they figure this number?

20 million people listen to his program everyday? For some reason I doubt that. During one of his programs an average of 20 million people tune in for a few minutes? That still sounds too high.

Rush claims. He is so full of himself, and facts are not in his vocabulary! He makes things up as he goes, and maybe there are that many people who have access to the stations he is on, but I think he just "assumes" they all listen to his crap!

It's the number of WEEKLY listeners they have. 4 million listeners per day is a better approximation of his audience.

They've been throwing these numbers around for a long time...never backing it up, but trying to bullshit an explanation. The number they used is "cumulative"...or the number of people who tune in during a speciic week...thus using that 20 million listener...that's more like 5 million a day...still an impressive number. But then, let's look a little closer. That number represents anyone who tunes in...as opposed to "Time Spent Listening" that represents the amount a person listens. Thus those 5 million people may tune in, but they don't stick around...like stopping at a store, looking in the window rather than going in and buying.

Again, I've heard this same number used for years...never updated, never substantiated...and one that, just like Rushbo, is one big lie.

he's on 590 stations. So that works out to somewhere between 4800 and 6800 listeners per station. And that's over three hours per day (i.e., a listener counts the same whether they tune in for some or all of the show)

that's not a very large percentage at all. Considering the bulk of that being AFR troops where everyone's forced to hear him regardless of political affiliation, and non-voting elederly & paranoid libertarian loons. His 'influence' is largely overstated. He is the voice of the non-thinking non-active America.

doesn't obama have any say or jurisdiction in that respect?

If he ever openly encourages sedition than he should be removed. If he is doing what he's doing now, let him on. The troops have a right to listen to the asshat if they want.
