Anyone who complained about Limbaugh appearing on CNN this past weekend
got a reward.

The slew of stew regarding what he said, what he meant, how people react, who is the 'voice' of the rethug party, what will the rethugs do, ad nauseum, is terrific.

And the Dems' response has been measured, but just about perfect.

3. Agreed. Best way to deal with dirt is to start by shining a light on it.
I thought it was entirely appropriate of CNN to cover CPAC, and follow through by asking where the GOP thinks it is going.

4. not happy with the responses i've heard...which ones did you like?
i still haven't heard someone take on rush for what he really is...someone who really knows how to make manipulate American's sense of privilege at the expense of details or history. he takes complexity and replaces it with selfishness, jingoism, and a phony sense of security via mytholigizing reagan.

it's an anti-intellectual position that wraps the country's worst qualities in a flag and calls it tradition. he is a phony, not an 'entertainer', which ive heard over and over again, and he's created an army of sound-alikes that fill the airwaves with so much trash and bile it does not surprise me that the country is waging irresponsible wars, building

6. Who are you listening to? I'm very curious, for your sources, not you.
The alternative responses would be instructive.

12. just had cable news on...and air america today...
cable news seemed to be running with rush all day...everytime it came up it was always about his role in the party, not the guys actual ideas...if it got even close to that it would just be that he is an entertainer...which is just a cop out to me.

11. Democratic politicians should treat Rush as if he's
insignificant. Let the blogs get down in the mud and let the Republicans slice and dice each other.

14. Let Rush and the Republicans hang themselves. (n/t)
http://newmajority.com/ShowScroll.aspx?ID=d22fe4c9-6f8c-4c0d-93af-aed79ad3b467

From David Frum neo-con and GWB speech writer...

And for the leader of the Republicans? A man who is aggressive and bombastic, cutting and sarcastic, who dismisses the concerned citizens in network news focus groups as “losers.” With his private plane and his cigars, his history of drug dependency and his personal bulk, not to mention his tangled marital history, Rush is a walking stereotype of self-indulgence – exactly the image that Barack Obama most wants to affix to our philosophy and our party. And we’re cooperating! Those images of crowds of CPACers cheering Rush’s every rancorous word – we’ll be seeing them rebroadcast for a long time.

8. Yes, making Rush Limbaugh the face and voice of the GOP is a winner for Democrats
Although, incomprehensibly, ABC News claimed that somehow affixing Limbaugh's face to the GOP Elephant brand, even though they acknowledge that he's deeply unpopular, was risky for Democrats. Naturally, this being the popular media, they didn't bother to explain how it could be risky, just that it was.

And, this being ABC, so mote it be.

22. Maybe they meant it in a similar way to
"never argue with anyone who buys ink by the barrel"

presuming that anyone with a national radio show is dangerous to fuck with. For one thing, you don't get an immediate chance to respond to his listeners. But if you have the bully pulpit, you're not at a disadvantage, and you do get time to think of a good comeback.

They overestimate his chances of winning public arguments with Obama and Gibbs.

15. There must be some very private luncheons inside the Beltway this week
and next about what to do about Rush Limbaugh.

His blathering propaganda is extremely public and extremely accessible. An industrious Democratic editor could forge SEVERAL excellent ads for targeted use in the next cycle.

At some of these very private luncheons I'm guessing that some very private vitriol is being spewed by some very key players.

The Steele problem is easier to solve than the Limbaugh problem.

If the GOP has any chance to rebound from recent bruising defeats and losses of majorities in the Congress, they'd better find a permanent solution to the Limbaugh problem. That their own RNC chair is licking Limbaugh's boots is absolutely pathetic.

Happily for Democrats, there may not be a solution to the Limbaugh problem.

18. The biggest surprise for me was the way Rush looks.
I know it's superficial to comment on this, but My God. The massive girth, the gimlet eyes, the porcine face, and I've heard of double chins but who has double cheeks? My God.

20. I emailed MSNBC after I caught a glimpse of El Porko yesterday.
Told them that immediately after I saw Rush, I turned off my TV. Told them I refuse to watch such offensive and blatantly stupid programming, including anything with Mr. Limbaugh or Mr. Gingrich, and that I will not watch any network that persists in featuring these people. Told them I was also boycotting Limbaugh's sponsors and that I'd hate to stop watching MSNBC completely as I have CNN and Fox.

Got no response, not yet anyway.
