On of my customers is a sweet little old lady and a Fox News viewer
I am a landscaper and she is the wife of one of my customers ..... both of them are salt of the earth good people
but the information she buys as real from Fox is just wild.

Last summer the Red Chinese w/ the help of the Cubans were drilling @ an angle in the Gulf of Mexico to steal
"our oil."

The NEA (teacher's union) is run by gays who do not believe in Jesus.

Obama's bill has the following:

A big payoff to ACORN for helping to steal the election.

A big payoff to Unions for their election work.

A train from L.A. to Nevada as a payback to Harry Reid

Ohio's new Sec. of State Jennifer Brunner helped to rig the 2008 election by having paper ballots along w/ those trustworthy EES & Diebold Machines
(you see "they" could take the paper ballots and put in new ones that change the voter's vote .... after working at polls for the past 3 elections
I don't know how "they" could do this but ....)

And get this Obama isn't REALLY an American. He is a MOOOO ZA LUMMM.

I enjoy working around their house and both are stand up people but the level of bull crap this women buys is off the charts.
BTW she likes Sean Hannity's radio show, "He is so smart."

I just think between her church and where she has been getting her info from for years
she gets a very unreal version of the world.

11. I think you're right....
Y'know, I once changed a flat for a little old lady in the mall parking lot. As I was getting the jack and spare from her trunk I noticed the "marriage = man + woman" sticker on her bumper (and I'm gay) but I just let it go. When I was done (and staunchly refused her money), she said something to the effect of "Your wife is very lucky." I kind of laughed and said something to the effect of "Well, I don't have or want a wife, Ma'am, as I am gay. I see from your bumper sticker that you don't approve, and that's certainly your right. But I hope that your disapproval stems from just a lack of REAL information about gay people. I don't want to indoctrinate your children, or force your church to accept me- I just want to live my life with dignity and respect." (Paraphrased as best as I can recall... That was a long time ago)

She seemed open and genuinely embarrased at the sticker and said she was going to remove it when she got home. But who knows? And I don't dwell on it.

26. It's what Harvey said so long ago.
If people find out they know a real, honest to goodness, homosexual, their attitudes change fast. They don't even really have to like them. But when they are a real, breathing, living, person with a car and friends, and money, and a church, it makes it much harder to project stereotypes upon them.

I wrote something around here years ago about how I thought Bush would ultimately have trouble over Iraq because at some point, his base would have people coming home from Iraq, people they knew, people they trusted, and he wouldn't be able to trump that personal knowledge. Bush, and Fox and call the other wingnuts get away with alot of lies because much of their base have no personal experience or contact with the subjects being discussed. So all they know is what they hear from "trusted" sources like Rush, and Bush, et. al. But those same sources can be trumped by personal knowledge. Their schtick on Terri Schiavo backfired on them because too many people have had personal contact with end of life issues. They don't need Bush to "frame" the issue. It got harder to sell the "fundamentals of the economy are strong" line as folks watch gas and food prices rise dramatically. Bush flamed out on SS because too many folks knew what their checks, or their parents checks, did for their lives. Katrina backfired because too many people "knew someone" who was affected.

The army is predominately made up of young people. They all know someone who is gay. They may not like them, but in the end they don't see them any differently than anyone else they don't like. The attitudes are changing fast in the military and we are getting close to major changes. The right can't do anything about that because every new homosexual that comes out to their neighbors and coworkers is another set of people who will never see them as anything else than "just another person". The right can't fight that. They are losing. It will end. You can't generally tell people that they don't know what they believe they know.

13. Exactly. I think it's a form of brainwashing...
...by only getting one source of 'news' and a generation that grew up trusting the 3 TV news channels to only tell the truth. Many cable TV shows are no longer real news. Fox, for sure, is NOT.

I know a few people just like her...some in my family.

Have her countersign and date it. Then, every other month or so, pull out the paper and ask her how (insert lunatic raving here) is working out? It's just possible that sooner or later, a synapse in her brain will fire, jump start her ability to think, and make her a lost cause to her current overlords.

38. since forever
People are a product of the world in which they live. I'm a seriously mid-fifties old shit from a rural community. Back when I was in HS, I helped a few people deal with their sexuality because I saw how much pain they endured considering the world in which we lived.
I knew I was the odd man out because my world extended beyond the community and county lines. I made the effort to get a bigger view of the world. Most of the people I knew didn't have the time, interest, or trust to expand their world view. These are the same people that would bend over backwards to help me or my family deal with any problem. Good people can have a view of the world formed not by logical analysis but by exploitation of societal views that are predominant in the world they occupy.

When the majority has a negative reaction to the way you live your life, your ethnic background, or your religious beliefs, or your view of the world, it's a heavy cross to bear. The true social advocate helps those "good people" to understand that the world is larger than what they see. I don't condemn anyone for their beliefs unless they are unwilling to accept that those beliefs might be based on something other than facts.

18. Sorry. But I cannot accept that a person can hold the hateful beliefs that pukes do,
especially the cretins who watch and believe Fux, and still be a "good person."

The two concepts are mutually exclusive.

They might be charming and polite (to some), but they still are negative, hateful assholes who would like to see others forced to worship their god, work for slave wages, etc.

The sooner they are removed from any influence on our society, the sooner we can undo the destruction done IN THEIR NAME.

29. Then, why are they members of a party of hate and death? Either they are stupid or
callous or both.

Just because they paid you to do a job does not make them "good people."

Politics has real consequences. When we give a pass to someone who supports war, environmental destruction, bigotry, abuse of the Constitution, torture, etc. simply because they are nice to us personally, we are sowing the seeds of our own demise.

And your examples of the husband's "good deeds" are only 1/3 of a hit. Killing the inhabitants of another country who was no threat to the US (sound familiar) in Korea and indoctrinating children to a fundy mindset are not on MY list of things to help humanity. Food drives - I'll give you that one, maybe.

I just am not willing to overlook the evil that they have done through their political support for the pukes.

32. Depends upon your definitions
Is a person bad because of what they believe, or what they do? Many of these people don't personally do much at all in support of their "understandings". Vote, yeah, and the occasional political check I suspose. But I volunteered at a social service agency that was easily 50% right leaning folks. Their excuse of course was usually that it was a private/nonprofit and that was different than a government "welfare" agency. Never mind that we depended heavily on various government grants and coordination with government social service agencies. I found their political "beliefs" fairly shallow and had a rather casual relationship to their actions. They were "good people" who came to their decisions by what I considered to be fairly flawed reasoning. But their decisions outside of politics were rarely much different than mine.
