Easter break!!!!! I just heard some reporter on Hardball saying Congress is under a timeline of their own to pass this Iraq supplemental bill because they are due to be off for SEVERAL WEEKS for Easter break! Apparently Sec. Gates said he MUST have this money by mid May.

I don't have a big problem with people having a few holidays off, but WTF? Does Congress EVER work a full MONTH?

Damn! I never considered running for Congress, but MAYBE I should change my mind!

2. Even when they are in session
Congress is locally known in DC as the "Tuesday-Thursday" club. ;-)

So yeah, I can see them taking a couple of weeks off for Easter. I'm sure plenty of them have appearances scheduled in their home disctricts too. That's fine. Let 'em go home and hear at the impeachment talk.

3. Screw Congress! I don't want to werk the entire time I'm in office!
I'm running for POTUS and promising to work at least a week or two. Far more than the jerk currently holding the seat.

4. HEY! You're expecting too much!
They make ONLY $165,000 a year! They can't be expected to actually EARN IT! Sheesh!

:sarcasm:

5. BS!!!! I earned less than half of that, and I worked 80+ hrs a week!
Yes, I saw yuor sarcasm, but this is just pissing me off. They cry all the damn time because of how hard they work, and I'm supposed to understand that they're really still working when they go home on a break. Yea right. I thought Nancy saidthe NEW CONGRESS was going to work 5 days a week! Oh well, I guess she never said how many weeks huh?

8. Well, also to be fair, they work hard in their districts
I have seen Senator Cantwell at all kinds of local events when she's in town.

9. mine doesn't work hard in his district
Tom Price only shows up in the wealthiest 1/3 of the district for fundraisers. I'd rather see him whining on the Congress floor -- at least he'd be THERE.

11. That's great for you, butI don't think that applies to all of them!
I've lived in Ga. for 7 years. My Rep attended ONE event that I'm aware of, and anthough he always responds to my emails, he never says anything except "If this bill comes to a floor vote, I'll keep your suggestions in mind." What BS!

I've NEVER personally seen either Isackson or Chambliss! Unfortunately, I don't have the $$ tohang out in the right social circles!

I'm not saying all 535 members are bad, but it sure looks like the majority are!

10. If they were all like Russ Feingold
they'd be holding listening sessions in every county every year (72 in Wisconsin), and that does take some time in the state.

13. Please include Bernie
He is constantly holding community meetings. Pat doesn't as much, but he's not exactly slouching when the Senate is in session. Of course in Vermont, if you're a politician, it's expected that you'll be accessible.

15. A lot of them do
My Dems in both Montana and Oregon have always gone around the state. I can't understand why people vote in anyone who doesn't. I kind of suspect some people just don't pay attention to what their representatives actually do in their own backyards.
