Limbaugh's afraid of Meeting the Press - So he challenges Presidents to come on his show....
Edited on Wed Mar-04-09 03:38 PM by Junkdrawer
If memory serves, he did the same thing with Clinton.

Look, Limbaugh won't allow a moderately intelligent liberal caller past his screeners. Imagine what the press would do to him. Better yet, look up the archives from when he first made his big splash in the media - they savaged him. And boy, howdy, does he remember that!

So every time he shoots his mouth off too large, he does something ridiculous like challenging a sitting President of the United States to come on his show under his terms. He knows damn well they won't take up his offer, so then he uses the refusal to deflect criticism that he won't appear on, say, Meet the Press or even The Daily Show.

Obama should have Robert Gibbs say that when Mr. Limbaugh chooses to run for public office or in any way offers himself up to press scrutiny, President Obama may take his offers for debate more seriously.

1. Rush likes to be in complete control
Whether he's in his studio, where he is the undisputed master, or at the CPAC conference in front of a room full of worshipful listeners, Rush doesn't venture outside the bubble anymore. His short-lived gig on ESPN showed that he is really, truly not ready to be left alone in public.

So of course he wants a "debate" in his studio where every switch, every producer, every light, every technician and every sound level, is under his complete and total control. Rush is at his best when he's arguing with an inanimate object, whether it's a picture, a bit of audiotape or a potted plant. And in his studio, he'd make sure to reduce anyone else to the level of an inanimate object to the greater glory of Rush.

Come on out from behind the curtain, Rush. If you're man enough. The smart money says not just "no," but "Hell, NO!"

2. Anytime the cowardly OxyRush ventures out of the protective bubble of his Florida villa
he gets destroyed.

Letterman humiliated him in 1994.

When he attempted to guest host fellow rightwinger Pat sajak's talk show, he had to have the audience removed so he could say his piece.

That's why you never see Rush do a debate that he doesn't control the format of He needs a stacked deck.

The fact that so many idiots cotinue to think he's some sort of straight shooter, despite that he never goes one on one with a countering view is just bizarre..

3. Transcript....
...

LETTERMAN: You and Oprah have all the money, don't ya? You and Oprah. This is your like second best-selling book.

LIMBAUGH: Seven and a half million copies of three books in print.

LETTERMAN: Oh, my God.

LIMBAUGH: And about five million sold. I'm just -- I'm overwhelmed by it. I mean, I never thought that anything like this would ever happen to me, and I'm thrilled and excited, and I thank everybody, everybody in the audience, including the liberals out there.

LETTERMAN: Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night and just think to yourself, "I am just full of hot gas?" Do you know what I mean? And of course --

(Audience cheers and applauds)

LIMBAUGH: Dave, let me tell you something.

LETTERMAN: No, I mean that, of course -- but you know what I'm saying. Do you ever think, "I'm just fooling people"?
