Good ol' Politico .... right on time ..... Johnny On The Spot ......
..... or more correctly, Porta John On The Spot.

See .... here's how they do this ...... the same work that Drudge used to do, but now with a thin veneer of respectability and mainstreaminess ........

They somehow found out that Carville and Begalla were telling Emanuel that he ought to be going after The Great Gasbag. They are said to have discussed this by phone almost every day. Such discussions kept on going. Frequently, sez Politico.

And now, when it sure looks like Team Obama is winning and the repubics need a break .... what breaks? Why, this story, of course. Just in the nick of time.

Good ol' Politico. No doubt this was all coinky dink .... this story coming out now and all .... yanno ...... ?

And where did the germ of the story come from?

I have no idea ..... none. I can't even guess.

Notta clue .....

none

2. as I said in the other thread
I really tend not to trust Politico...they are too obsessed with finding out "scoops", and more often than not, their editorials tend to be based on complete bullshit or very obvious. They write memos to make their bloggers write things that will get them booked on the news shows. Hell, they even did this with their "Oh my god, Obama is speaking in BLACK CODE" editorial from yesterday. I have politico in the Straight Up Politics feed, and 95% of the stuff their headlines are on is shit stirring gossip that Politico hopes will get them publicity, but is really inconsequential.

9. oh, I know!
And this one was written by Jonathan Martin...Politico had a piece today alleging that other reporters are "sucking up" to Obama aides in hopes of getting better press access. The thing is, Jonathan Martin brought Cindy McCain fucking FLOWERS at one of McCain's crazy journalists BBQ orgies. I once wrote an email to Jonathan Martin (I think it was something that Tucker Bounds had said on tv), and included a harmless joke (along with a smiley) about Politico and the McCain BBQ. Jonathan Martin was NOT pleased, and wrote me a pissy diatribe email back about how a reporter can still socialize and maintain a professional aura and be objective, and how "too much is made of that BBQ"...so I found the "reporters are sucking up to Obama aides" thing to be pretty hypocritical, and the typical flamebait stuff that Politico does to get attention.

4. Hmmm
I don't see how the story can damage Obama and the White House. So what, if Emmanuel organized it? The official website is run by the DCCC. Where's the big secret?

8. It was a judo move ......
Everyone knows this was a game.

They knew it when Obama called him out.

They knew it when they appeared to be losing.

This is the next phase. They're going to use that story as the basis for the media to paint The Great Gasbag and the repubics as victims.

Its kinb of a Hail Mary Pass sorta thing, but Politico did their part for the team ..... right on cue.
