We got the results of the Skid's urinalysis/culture and he has a bacterial urinary tract infection. He'll be on antibiotics for a month. Fortuately, it comes in liquid form, so I don't have to fight with him to take pills. I gave him his first dose tonight and Skid-doo was NOT a happy camper.

Hugs! Since Norman's teeth are pretty bad he has to take antibiotics for a week every so often! I hope Skid will feel better soon! :hi: :loveya: :hug: :pals: :woohoo: :hug: :grouphug: :hug:

Thanks. I'm just glad it wasn't anything more serious and it's treatable. Poor Norman - I guess bad teeth are an occupational hazzard for a scone hunter. Old Willie had bad teeth too but he didn't get anti-biotics - and he was a champ at taking medicine. How are my favorite Wisconsin kittie's doing?

Poor little Sesame got stuck in a brown paper bag today and all I saw was this streak going back and forth across the yard, then she was so freaked out she hid for hours. I finally found her behind some boxes in the garage!

Although he'll be really unhappy twice a day for the next month, he's going to be ok.

He may not be happy now, but he will be when he's better. I can't help but to laugh when Sebastian sulks. He's like a pouting child. Are yours like that??

The others don't seem to care.

My husband had never been allowed to have a cat nor to really be around cats as my mother-in-law is afraid of cats. When I was moonlighting in my late stepfather's liquor there was a pretty little, wild cat hanging around and we were living in a bricked-in trailer (don't ask me what the owner was thinking) while building our house and I mentioned bringing the cat "home" because the place had mice. Immediate response was no I'll get some traps. He set 4 traps and they all went off the first time, then the second, then the third, and I told him, you've got 2 weeks and either those damned rodents are gone or I will be, how about that cat?

He relented, I brought her home and took her to the vet to get her shots and later to have her spayed. We were given antibiotics for her post-spaying, and when it was time to give her the meds, I put on a long sleeved shirt and advised him to do the same. He made some comment about how that wouldn't be necessary and I reminded him that I'd always lived with cats and dogs and giving meds to a cat is much different than giving them to a dog. He learned quickly, put on his lineman's gloves and we got on with giving her the meds!

He's learned a lot about felines since then. Hope Skids is gonna be okay.

Thanks for the good thoughts, I'm sure Skid will be fine. The vet said that the anti-biotics should clear it up without any problems. He'll go back in a month for another urine culture and we'll see if it worked.

was devastated when she was euthanized for renal failure. He also learned that dogs and cats can live together and get along during that time, because I found a pitiful cocker spaniel and brought her home, and she loved cats. After she was spayed we took in a stray kitten and the newly spayed dog was nursing the kitten. I kept telling him to get the kitten off of the dog because I was aware that the kitten was trying to nurse from the dog and he thought that I was insane until it happened. He took pictures because he knew that no one would believe it.

Thanks, I'm sure he'll be fine now. When the vet gave me the option of pills or liquid, I picked liquid without hesitation. The last thing I need is for Skid to spit out a pill only to have one of the other guys eat it.

I saw Skid has to take liquid meds. I'm sending him some calming thoughts :-)

I had a lot of practice with Willie. The vet gave me a choice between pills and liquid and I told her as long as there's no difference in the efficacy, I'd take the liquid. I don't have to worry about him spitting it out.

I just get the syringe in his mouth and shoot the meds down his throat, although you have me concerned now. Before I go to bed, I'm going to have to search the bedroom to see if he spit it out.

Here with a jaw-ache after a morning at the dentist getting a couple of very old mercury amalgams out and new crowns in. I am amazed by the new technology that allows my dentist to make crowns in the office. I am further amazed and regretting that they haven't figure out a better way to numb the nerves in the jaw. The best way is still the painful shots.

because of break-ins. They have had several break-ins that appeared to be drug-seeking, looking for petty cash, etc. Most dentists here have arrangements with local pharmacies to pick up their heavy-duty stuff in the morning -- let the pharmacies deal with that level of security since they have to do that anyway.

It was just the topical and the shots. And my SansDisk mp3 player.

I had a rough time with my teeth as a child. My parents couldn't afford braces, and my mouth is small. So I got braces as an adult to make sure I wouldn't need dentures, and I think it has paid off. My mouth is only big enough for a set of 24 teeth. But I have very old fillings and injuries that have needed restoration lately. Better to get it now than when it turns into a major gum problem or gives me cardiomyelitis.
