Watching GHWBush cry publicly because he got 4 calls from former
Presidents today
Clinton-Carter-Obama and **, with three of them inquiring if the heart implant worked, and one of them asking just when he can inherit and fill the coffers,
now I must say that watching those tears roll is makes me effing nuts.

They're genuine very old man's tears, they come from the real emotion he has the wealth to indulge in without having to delude it with worry over losing his home to pay the medical bills. They are simple understandable tears but they sway me not.

To see the destruction his son brought to people who actually have hearts, and who suffer all over this globe from it, that is what should make this old man sob all day and all night for the rest of his miserable life.

It's sad.

The good parts are that ** is listed as X-President
Obama is listed as President
and Babs can plug into a little reality now that she has a beating heart, and maybe it will bring her a lot of unhappiness and wrinkle her up some more.
I don't have a problem with any of that.

1. People shouldn't die. Period.
No matter who someone is, say even Rick Santorum - he is loved by somebody. That somebody is not me, but someone loves him. Do you want to take that away from that person?

2. Oh please....understand me in the spirit stated...there is nothing in what I said
to inspire your response I hope.
Of course people should not die.
But they do.
All of us.
And what we have to take with us is how we lived our life as a member of the human family, not just our own.

4. Yes - and I never said I liked it
Just because something shouldn't happen doesn't mean it doesn't

8. I understand where you are coming from a philisophical level
But as someone who has lost those I love on occasion, a death really doesn't affect the one who dies. They're dead - problem solved. Their family and friends, however, are left with this gaping hole in their lives that is now glaring at them at every moment.

12. That all sounds nice on paper, but they don't. Not as a sentient entity.
When someone dies, its game over. No Heaven, no Hell, no Purgatory. Just "no more." The person who dies won't be any the wiser, but the friends and family, they suffer.

prison guard. An inmate sitting on his bunk looked at me as I walked by and said quietly "People forget that ever we have people out there that love us" and then returned to his reading. I never knew why he said that to me.

You are right. I certainly don't want to take that away from anyone.

Edited to say that the correct term is 'correctional officer'

5. Wish I could give your post a rec.
I admit to thinking that it was a surprise that Babs even had a heart, but you're right. Death is inevitable, but it's nothing to make light of. It's the ultimate equalizer. It is weird to think of anyone in that family as a human, but it is good for my own soul to be reminded.

6. He's always seemed to cry really easily when it comes to HIS family.
I don't know. Considering all the damage his spawn has caused?

Just consider me unmoved.

And more than a little put off.

10. And where were GHWB's tears for his wife's heart when he was screwing around on her?
Not that I care about the screwing around. Either way the tears move me not.

17. It looks more and more as if Bush the Elder's handlers don't take very good care of him.
He belongs in prison on his way to hell, but where are the people that all his power is supposed to buy him in his age?

18. Well, I think being shitty about an imperfect old woman who never held public office, and
her plainly imperfect old husband's concern for her, is just something that can't end well.

Last time I checked, we had the White House and both chambers on the Hill. We're the ones who hit the fucking trifecta, this time.

A little magnanimity, maybe? Or at least a bit less nastiness....it's something that Carter, Clinton and Obama managed.

I'll follow their lead, thanks anyway.
