========================================================================================

YOU KEEP RELIGION OUT OF OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND WE'LL KEEP SCIENCE OUT OF YOUR CHURCHES!

The fact that Time magazine featured this story on it's front page is one of those things I never imagined in America. Not only have we lost our separation of church and state, but now the Christian extremists in my "land of the free" are pushing to begin the brainwashing of our youth in our tax-payer funded schools. I can only hope you presented Mr. David Van Biema's article in such a way for your usual purpose of stirring up the masses and distracting their attention from the truly important issues that need attention in our country. One would think the, now proven, treasonous acts of the Bush administration regarding a covert CIA agent; the issuing of White House subpoenas regarding the unlawful firing of US attorneys involved in cases against Republican pals; or even the continued protection, by all means, of Bush's Brain, Karl Rove.

What this country needs does not involve force-feeding it's young the myths and fables of Christ's groupies that have been rewritten, retranslated and reinterpreted by way too many self-serving organized religions in the past 2000 years. If people truly desire religious study in public schools then it should be a study of comparative religions throughout the world. Let children use the brains they were given to assess and challenge the history of religion in all nations then decide for themselves what to think. Schools exist to create thinkers, not to imprint some one group's agenda into their young minds. This IS still America, isn't it? I know we're losing it fast but you could be helping to save it instead of enabling it's decline into a Christian theocracy.

If you want to put something much needed back into school curriculums it should be basic civics, government, and political history courses. Maybe we could once again encourage the young people of this country to get involved in it's future instead of continuing to leave it all up to the fat, rich, mostly white men that control it now. I hope I live long enough to see the types of faces in my Congress, in the same percentages as those faces exist in my country; when it's no longer the mega-bucks of those fat, rich, mostly white men that get them elected but a candidate's ideas and supporters.

3. Yes. That's why I called it their "US Cover".
Get us all fighting about this issue so we'll be distracted from the real problems. And I called them on that.

Good letter!
TIME is merely another propaganda launching pad for the extreme right wing. They are fully corrupt and I wouldn't shed a tear if they went the way of LIFE magazine.

7. It doesn't matter what you believe, only what the people in power believe - or pretend to...

5. I would purely love to be the Bible teacher in public school...
I'd have the little morons going home with some kick ass questions for Mom 'n Pop.

God good to all, or just a few?

PSA 145:9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

JER 13:14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

The number of beasts in the ark

GEN 7:2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.

GEN 7:8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth, GEN 7:9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.

Is it folly to be wise or not?

PRO 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

ECC 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

1 Cor.1:19: "For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and wil bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."

The sins of the father

ISA 14:21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

DEU 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

Moses' personality

Num.12:3: "Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the fact of the earth."

Num.31:14, 17, 18: "And Moses was wroth...And Moses said unto them, "Have ye saved all the women alive? ... Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman, ... But all the women children ... keep alive for yourselves."

Jesus' first sermon plain or mount?

Matt.5:1,2: "And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying...."

Luke6:17,20: "And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people...came to hear him.. And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples and said..."

8. Excellent choices. You've done your homework. I've been wondering about those sections that
talk about stoning or murdering your daughters or family members or other atrocities every time some bible thumper quotes me something absurd they believe or do "because it says so in the bible".

Got any of those?
