McCain reverses position on gay marriage.
Edited on Wed Mar-28-07 12:12 AM by Clarkie1
Someone on Presidential hopeful John McCain’s staff is going to be in trouble today. They used a well known template to create his Myspace page. The template was designed by NewsvineFounder and CEO Mike Davidson (original template is here). Davidson gave the template code away to anyone who wanted to use it, but asked that he be given credit when it was used, and told users to host their own image files.

McCain’s staff used his template, but didn’t give Davidson credit. Worse, he says, they use images that are on his server, meaning he has to pay for the bandwidth used from page views on McCain’s site.

Davidson decided to play a small prank on the campaign this morning as retribution. Since he’s in control of some of the images on the site, he replaced one that shows contact information with a statement:

Today I announce that I have reversed my position and come out in full support of gay marriage…particularly marriage between two passionate females.

2. I hate to see this kind of stuff! Don't you realize what this isgoing to do?
We've all been fighting to keep the internet FREE and open as it currently is. When people do this kind ifstuff, all it's doing is playing into the hands of the AH's that want to regulate it!

Sure, this is funny, and only an idiot would believe it was real, but it still bothers me that it and those goofoffswho post this kind of stuff areharming our efforts.

7. baloney - they shouldn't have been stealing bandwidth
it's called self-policing, and it works just fine for the internets. :)

10. Swift boat liars = what communication reform?
On the other hand you're right. There's no money to be made (on the surface) by an attack ad on a local channel that is suddenly repeated on national cable MSM. The liars made there money and more by the amplitude of their small ad purchase.

I guess the greater question is the veracity of the remarks in question.

Dig deeper.

14. There is already a law/regulation against unauthorized hacking
Why not enforce the laws we have?

18. By all means, let's not exercise freedom if we want to remain free
And let's come out publicly against those who do!! After all, THEY are the real problem here aren't they?

21. Um...
...haven't your ever heard of bandwidth theft? The McCain camp is responsible for it. It is a persons right to change anything that is being stolen by them in the form of bandwidth theft.

It you truly believe what you have stated, then you really have a lot to learn about how the Internets work.

4. I am not comfortable criticizing McCain anymore.
I am of the opinion that he is a tortured sad soul who cannot
find his own moral compass.

I feel that he is damaged goods and that making fun of him is
cruel.

I might feel differently if I felt he had a chance in hell of
being elected president but he hasn't

He hasn't a chance in bloody hell.

8. Oh he's flip-flopped on so many issues, he probably
needs someone on his staff to inform him that he indeed is not if favor of gay marriage, particularly between passionate females.

But I fully support the prank.

15. This is where the template originated:

I've used it successfully on my MySpace. It figures a repug would link to someone's original image and steal bandwidth, instead of creating one's own image easily in Photoshop.
