Desert Compound Mystery
Feb 23, 2009. Over the past five months, this "compound" has taken shape out in the central Arizona desert, in the middle of nowhere near Blackwater and Sacaton Arizona, along the dry Gila River. It looks to be about a quarter mile long by an eighth mile wide. It has razor wire all around it, power lines run to it and about half of it is cleared of vegetation. It is in an inhospitable and inescapable area of the Sonoran desert.

The closest small towns would be about 10 miles away in any direction. You'd be lucky to walk one mile in the summer heat there. April to November temps are commonly well above 100F. Summertime temps are routinely 120 F or even higher. Could this be for Guantanamo Bay detainees? Coming civil unrest? Illegal aliens? Mortgage defaulters? ...I will keep you posted.

2. Here is one thing it is not
You notice that there is a roadway of some sort that begins at the gate but is not visible outside of the gate? That roadway tells you one thing this site is not. It is not a site that has contaminated soil with fencing around it to protect anyone who might innocently wonder onto it. Sites like that are more common (particularly in the west) than you might imagine, a lot of them had to do with uranium mining or refining or in some cases simply dumping grounds. The way you can tell is that roadway. When you have contaminated soil its not a good idea to disturb it because the dust created just causes the problem to migrate. Also, if its a Federal facility somewhere on that fence there should be a sign from someone other than the fence-installer.

5. Maybe it's one of those places where forensic scientists dump bodies left to science
so that they can see, in real life, under controlled and verifiable conditions, how bodies decompose when they're left in the elements. It helps with crime solving.

They have one of those in TN, fenced, shielded, out in the middle of nowhere, with dead bodies scattered, buried, covered with leaves, all sorts of variations. A few pigs and so forth, too, just to mix it up. I'm wondering if the people whose bodies were scattered out that way had that in mind when they left their body to science....!

If I were going to build a nefarious prison, I'd make it a hell of a lot bigger than that (quarter mile by an eighth of a mile is nothing) and put it in a more temperate climate.

And as for the weather....what, are they going to leave the prisoners on their own? The guards would have to work in that environment as well.

Where are the buildings?

This looks more like an exercise where they don't want anyone "disturbing the scene" for whatever reason...it could be something as simple as a study of desert plant life.

7. What are the 4 white objects that can be seen through the gate?
Look at the right side of the gate, upper right quadrant of the fencing, lower right toward the corner of the quadrant, there are 4 white objects that appear rectangular and standing on end. Also, between the fence post upright on the right side of the gate you can also see what may be a 5th object, also white, that appears to be a bit larger. I'm sure they would have been much more visible to the photographer, who may have an idea what they are - was it you?

The truth is, we have a very large (600') military blimp in testing. As they discovered in Stevensville, TX, you just can't fly the thing over populated areas. Here's a picture.
http://www.aerosml.com/wlrs.htm
Although the corners are rounded, the helium blimp is rectangular in shape (600' x 400') and has six large lights on either side. Top speed is 240 mph with a conventional propulsion system. There is speculation that the military version has a plasma propulsion system. Check out the properties of helium plasma. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helium

15. Dear sweet Jesus ... Have you got bigfoot locked up out there too?
a 240 mph blimp is it? Plasma propulsion system on a blimp is it? That ought to put Goodyear out of the blimp business I guess.

16. Thomas, WV is it?
Next time I'm at the Purple Fiddle I'll look you up. The 240 mph blimp is a REALITY. The plasma propulsion, like I said, is speculation and not mine.

12. Have you tried Google sat image mapping it?
Can you figure out an address or zip code, to try to see a satellite image at Google?

I can see the white boxes, too. Wonder what eyes could pick out (or zoomed in, enhanced photo image)?

It's odd that the road to the fence is unpaved, and the paved road begins just inside the fence. That could conceivable mean that whoever built this doesn't have rights or easement over the adjacent property, which would point to a private project--although what, I can't imagine. Corporate human experiments? Corporate weapons development? Severe toxic dump site?

Someone upthread suggested a body farm (for study of decomposition), but I doubt that a body farm would be placed in such extreme heat conditions. This wouldn't be very normal conditions for decomp rate of most murder victims (except maybe in Iraq? hm.)

It's certainly spooky for strange, remote, newly fenced areas to show up--with our Constitution in shreds, our own rights under grave threat, and the rights of foreigners absolutely non-existent.

That would be my first guess. They're going to 'disappear' people into underground prisons. Second guess: severe toxic waste dump. Third: artillery range, or weapons testing.

25. Far suburban Phoenix
Sacaton and Blackwater are south of Chandler. Google gives the distance as 9.1 miles by road.

I don't see anything that looks likely, except a rectangular patch of about the right size roughly 3 miles northwest of Blackwater. Looks to be scraped flat. There are lots of rectangular irrigated fields farther southeast.

It's not a long ways from populated areas.

29. First of all temps in April and Nov (and even Oct) are NOT above 100 degrees.
Second, the temps in that part of the desert are NOT routinely over 120 degrees.
It's hot here but we aren't a blast furnace.
If that person really lived here he'd know that.

That area described would be right near Interstate 10, a very major highway and extremely heavily traveled.
I doubt it's anything very mysterious.

30. Upon looking at maps of the area, this is located on the Gila River Indian Reservation.
The US government has no control of the area. So his 'conspiracy theories' don't hold water.
