Dwelling in the House of Limbaugh Re "Forget Rush; Mitt Romney is quietly showing leadership" (Viewpoints, March 4): Kathleen Parker is obviously out of touch when she suggests that it is Mitt Romney, not right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh, who should be the rightful leader of the Republican Party. Apparently she is unaware that El Rushbo has already been deified and elevated to this position by the GOP's conservative base.
As a symbol of their veneration for him, they offer this psalm: "Limbaugh is our shepherd; we need not question. He maketh us to lie down in his ideological pastures. He leadeth us to the holy grail of his wisdom. He restoreth our will never to compromise. He leadeth us to the Enchanted Isle of Bombast for his own sake. Yes, though we walk through the Valley of Liberals, we will fear no evil, for El Rushbo is with us. His overgeneralizations, stereotypes and ad homonyms, they comfort us. He preparest a dissembler's litany before us in the presence of the educated elite. He anointeth our heads with neoconservative obsessions; our blood boileth over. Surely contempt for those who disagree with him shall follow us all the days of our lives, and we will dwell in the House of Limbaugh forever."
