Government Stimulus vs. 'Normal' Stimulus ....
Edited on Sun Mar-08-09 03:10 PM by Trajan
For many years, conservatives have promoted low wages and few benefits for regular workers. They have advocated against unions, against increases in the minimum wage, in short: They have stood AGAINST all reasonable and natural developments of improved incomes for the mass of workers in the work force .... To the point that few workers now can actually afford things like cars and washing machines .... They have been financially strangled by a conservative economic philosophy that devalues the contributions of workers in favor of the 'skim' provided to investors ...

Yep ... According to conservatives: Wage increases rob investors of profits .... The workers who put in long hours and work HARD to make sure their employer's goods are manufactured, on time and under budget .... THOSE workers who create EVERY actual object that forms the REAL foundation of wealth development .... THOSE workers, according to conservatives, do NOT deserve to enjoy the fruits of their labor in the form of improved income, in order for investors and the already wealthy to capture EVERY increase in productivity, which is generated by the excellent work performed by a dedicated work force ....

Over the last decades, this move to suppress wage development has been a rousing success for the conservatives .... Wages are historically LOW, while the cost of living has incremented steadily to the point that basic dependency needs swallow the entire paycheck of a working family, who have for many years been forced to choose medicine over college for the kids, or who would fix their old cars before buying new, who would buy the cheapest foodstuffs in order to make the energy payments that keep their home warm ....

In a 'functional' economy (functional meaning a state where workers share in the bounty of economic development), workers wages form the 'natural' stimulus that would generate economic activity in the marketplace .... In a 'functional' economy, workers would receive regular wage increases that better reflect it's contributions to an improved profit picture that creates wealth for the investors, the management, and the marketplace as a whole, as their economic activity 'echoes' through the market, creating demand for goods and services .....

WAGES are stimulus ..... Yet: Wages have been suppressed to the point of economic degeneracy ....

Families cannot afford to buy 'things', whether they are necessary or simply desired, because they do NOT have the income to afford those 'things' ....

The notion that the government can provide 'stimulus' by injecting money into the marketplace ... to generate 'economic activity' by creating jobs, hopefully with pay enough to allow the purchase of other 'things', and hopefully creating an 'echo' through the system that will put yet more and more workers back to work : This is an unfortunate necessity which would not be required IF workers had not been denied the wage improvements they needed, wanted, and worked for all these years ....

It is because the conservatives have successfully killed the balance and fairness of regular wage increases for workers that we now stand in the position of HAVING TO generate economic activity by government edict, using tax revenues to create productive work for millions of unemployed workers ...

It is because of guys like Rick Santelli, who have for years railed against workers and their 'demands' for higher compensation for their work ... It is because of guys like this that we all stand unable to 'prime the pump' of a derelict economy that has already fallen off the cliff ....

Rick Santelli ? ..... You self righteous bastard: PAY workers what they are worth, and we wouldnt NEED to spend tax money to save your investor class ass from your own greedy, silly ass financial policies .....

Rick ? .... If you and your ilk were NOT so fucking self centered: We wouldnt be in this fucking mess ....

You bastards wanted it all, and you got it - NOW look what the fuck has happened !....

You dislike government intervention in your precious marketplace ? - Then STOP cutting the throats of the very workers who create YOUR wealth ..... PAY THE WORKERS what they are worth - FAR more than you greedy asses have paid them ....

You dislike government stimulus ? .... Then allow 'normal' stimulus to works it's 'market-based' magic ..... PAY WORKERS, and watch your beloved stocks increase in value as workers plunge into the marketplace to buy your goods .... We wouldnt need 'government' stimulus if you and your friends didnt cut the throats of working families these last decades ....

Having said that: IF the government stimulus provided these next couple years do not develop into an improved income picture for workers in general - Then families will not buy stuff, and economic activity will again fall into the pit once the stimulus money 'echoes' through the system .....

Workers MAKE the system work, and help investors become rich because they can buy your goods - But unless workers see improved wages overall - There will be no long term recovery ....

You can put that in the bank ....

1. Damn ... sunk like a rock ....
I suppose the message could be condensed into "GOP = Failing Economy", but maybe everybody already knows that ....

Bottom line - We need jobs with decent wages if we are to break this fall into oblivion ...
