Who cant stand Coulter? (TAKE ACTION)
Everyone on DU. So, lets do something good for all of humanity and get Coulter fired from all those Papers that still pay for her so-called Columns in their pressings. I emailed 10 papers; what about you.
Free Speach and Hate Speach are two completly different things, no matter how you say it.

Ann Coulter Action Center
On March 2, while speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) right-wing pundit Ann Coulter said she "can't really talk about" presidential candidate and former Sen. John Edwards (D-NC) because "you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot.' " The CPAC audience applauded enthusiastically.

Immediately after Coulter made her comments, Media Matters went to work compiling a list of newspapers carrying her weekly column and providing our readers and the progressive community at large with the appropriate contact information so those concerned could weigh in with their thoughts and feelings.

What was her response?

"This is the same thing we go through every six months. I say something, the same people become hysterical, and that's the end of it. I mean, I think the lesson young right wingers ought to draw from this is it's really not that scary to attack liberals. This is about my 17th allegedly career ending moment." -- Ann Coulter on Hannity & Colmes, 03/05/07

4. I think this is the wrong approach.
Edited on Wed Mar-28-07 04:25 AM by Make7
Telling a media outlet that you are offended by someone whose entire purpose is to be controversial will just make them think that you are watching/reading/listening. They want people to react, that's the reason they have people like Ann Coulter in the first place. It's not news - it's not analysis - it's sensationalism - it's entertainment. The media outlets want to hear from people, whether it is favorable comments or negative ones, that way they know people are paying attention. Why do you think all these people continue to be put in front of the public after all the stupid shit they say?

The only way to talk to a business is with money. Find out what their biggest advertisers are and write to them to explain why you will never buy their product in the future. And also write to the media outlet listing which of their advertisers you have written to and why. If enough people do that and it starts to cost them revenue, they might reconsider giving someone like Ann Coulter an outlet for her nonsense.

- Make7

Edit to add: The other approach is enumerated in Post #1.

5. I can't understand how it is that she has a "career" in the first place.
With all due respect to Bill Maher, she just is not funny. Stupid and mean-spirited does not=funny.

6. I like her. She does more damage to the repug party than even Rush does.
Every time she opens her mouth she embarrasses the whole party.

7. Here is an Ann Coulter story
My husband is recently retired and hitting up the library reading all kind of political books. One night he stayed up late reading, and when I got up in the morning was waving one of his newest books and yelling, "Who is this idiot?". Had to laugh when I realized he had taken out an Ann Coulter book and stayed up half the night reading it. He was at the library when it opened complaining that they did not carry many of the political books he wanted to read and they carried this garbage. Hope that more people react like this.
